Show Dean Pitts Called to Tulsa Mission Dean Pitts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pitts of 653 North 600 East, Orem, has been called to the Tulsa Oklahoma Mission. He enters the Missionary Mis-sionary Training Center on October 10th, 1985. An open house will be held for Dean Sunday, September 29th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at their home. Pfc David Rock Completes Copter Repair Course Fort Rucker, Ala.-Army Private 1st Class David E. Rock, son of Henry W. and Norma M. Rock of 720 West 400 North, Orem, has completed the OH-58 helicopter repair course at the U.S. Army Aviation School, Fort Rucker, Ala. Subjects personnel studied through academics and hands-on training included the OH-58 turbine engine, transmission, electrical systems, flight controls, main and tail rotor systems, and the aircraft's hydraulic system. He is a 1974 graduate of Orem High School. Nels Graham Stationed In South Korea Army Pvt. Nels E. Graham, son of C. Laird and Lind Rose Graham of 173 South 280 East, Orem, has arrived arriv-ed for duty in South Korea. Graham, an anti-armor weapons crew member with the 2nd Infantry Divsion, was previously assigned at Fort Benning, Ga. He is a 1985 graduate of Orem High School. Eileen Pitcher Completes USAF Indoctrination Second Lt. Eileen K. Pitcher, daughter of Lois R. Thompson of 446 East 400 South, Orem, Utah, and Charles E. Thompson of 1545 N. Woodland Blvd., Tucson, Ariz., has completed the U.S. Air Force military indoctrination for medical service officers at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. The course acquaints newly commissioned medical personnel with professional and administrative responsibilities as Air Force of ficers. Pitcher is scheduled to serve with the U.S. Air Force Regional Hospital in the Philippines. Her husband, Air Force Tech. Sgt. Donald L. Pitcher, is the son of Austin Pitcher of 18 Bushwick Road, Poughkeepsie,N.Y. The lieutenant is a 1984 graduate of Arizona State University, Tempe. KAREN COOK Deseret Federal Makes New Appointments Two new appointments have been announced for the Orem branch of Deseret Federal Savings and Loan. Ron Rupper has been named the new Branch Manager and Karen Cook the new Operations Manager, by company President, Bruce H. Cundick. The two new appointments, effective immediately, stem from an organization change and concerted effort by Deseret Federal to broaden customer service. In his new position, Mr. Rupper will serve as loan office and will How does -4 RON RUPPER manage all lending functions in the Utah County area, being based in the Orem branch. He will also serve as notary public and have responsibility for physical facilities. Mrs. Cook will be responsible for the operations of the Orem branch, including savings and checking account customers, employee relations, personnel administration, new accounts and training. A native of Provo, Mr. Rupper attended Provo High School and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1981 with a major in Finance. He has been with Deseret Federal for two years. Mrs. Cook attended Ricks College in Rexburg and worked in the Vernal office of Deseret Federal before transferring to the Provo office in June, 1984. t J I M j Before the heating season is upon us, look up. Carlos Edwards Jr. Earns Eagle, Emergency Food Bank Drive Successful Carlos Edwards Jr., 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy D. Edwards of 1558 So. 280 E., Orem, has earned the Eagle Rank of Scouting. Carlos is the Sr. Patrol leader of Troop 435, with Paul E. Craig as his Scoutmaster, prior to Craig, Doug Andcrton was his Scoutmaster. Carlos is in the 8th grade at American Heritage School in Pleasant Grove. For his Eagle Project, Carlos contacted Community Action and was asked to help collect food for the Community Com-munity Action Emergency Food Bank. The Emergency Food Bank Drive proved to be very successful with 1,567 items collected according to Kathy Dunn, the Mountain Iand Community Action Director. Carlos is also a recipient of the Arrow of Light, Presidential Conservation Conser-vation Award, On My Honor, Duty to God as well as Eagle. Carlos has won awards in bowling bowl-ing in the Utah County Tournament, Flag Football, Jr. Jungle Expert from Panama, a survival course in the jungle. His hobbies are swimming, fishing, video games and art Carlos requested that as he accepted ac-cepted this Eagle, it is also part of all of Orem and his troop for supporting him in the achievement and in support sup-port of the Food Bank, which is the only on-ly Service to this Community other than the Bishop's Storehouse. The show will be open to the public from Oct. 6 until Nov. 1. Entries may be brought to the museum Oct. 2 (Wed.) from 4 to A p.m. It will be a juried show. There is no entry fee, but artists submitting work must belong to the Guild or join at the time of entry by paying $15 annual dues. Awards will be given for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place according to Bert L. Fullmer, president.
