Weekly Workshops Teach Beauty Tips To 13 Miss Orem Contestants The 13 contestants for the title of Miss Orem 1984 are now involved in weekly workshops to help them prepare themselves for the role of royalty. However, regardless of those selected to reign at the April 28th pageant, the classes, which offer training in a variety of skills, have a primary objective of self development develop-ment for candidates. The workshops, "which are scheduled to be held from March 15th to April 19th, are organized organiz-ed and conducted by Paulina Jolley and Carol Otteson, co-chairmen from the Orem Booster, sponsors of the annual an-nual pageant. The leaders in the workshops are six women, who have expertise in the verious professional fields. They donate their time and talents as a service ser-vice to the contestants and the city of Orem. They are: Francine Christensen will conduct con-duct classes on stage makeup and also helps with interviews with judges. She has worked in both movies and television and has a number of films to her credit. Gerrie Collins will help the girls with day makeup techniques. She has a great deal of talent in working with application ot cosmetics to bring out the natural beauty of the contestants. Linda Farnsworth advises the girls with hair care. She has had extensive ex-tensive training in hair styling and owns her own salon in Orem. She has helped in many pageants in Orem and in Utah County and assists the girls in hair styling. Kelli Johnson has been a part of the Miss Orem Pageant for many years. She has had years of dance training and is especially talented in choreography. She works with the girls in the production number for the pageant. Marie Pearson will be giving the contestants advice on stage presence and pointers on handling the microphone in performances. She will also help on interviews. She is the current cur-rent Miss Orem and is talented in drama and music. Kelly Thayer is assisting the girls with stage modeling. She also teaches the girls how to walk gracefully and how to sit and stand properly. She was an attendant to Miss Orem in 1979 and has been willing to share her talents each year. According to Norm Carter of Orem Department of Public Safety, the scouts were cleaning the yard at an elderly woman's home when the suspects drove by and shouted some obscenities at the youths who responded, "Same to you."
