Show Efetthew Burgess Matthew Burgess, infant son of John S. and Janet Anderson Burgess, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 1983, in a Salt Lake City hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1983, m Salt Lake City. Survivors include his parents of Provo; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Burgess and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Anderson, all of Orem; great-grandmothers: great-grandmothers: Mary Burgess and Clara Timothy both of Roosevelt, and Lida Anderson of Orem. Graveside services were held Thursday in Roosevelt. Eda Penrod Edna Twitchell Penrod, 73, of Orem, died Tuesday, December 20, 1983, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. She was born Sept. 29. 1910. in Manila. Daggett County, to James Ephraim and Louisa Wall Twitchell. She married William Lowell 1 Penrod. Mav 29. 1933, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. He E died June 17, I , '. 1976. "w She received fc her education in .. Manila and Delta. She moved to Provo and worked in the area. Later she married and made her home in Provo. In 1956, she moved to Orem where she has resided since. She worked for 16 years at Utah Valley Hospital in dietary, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the LDS Church, Orem 25th Ward. She was also a member of the Orem Senior Citizens. Survivors include three sons and one daughter: L. Lyman Penrod of Salt Lake City; Craig T. Penrod of Manhatten Beach. Calif.; Chad E. Penrod of Lindon; Mrs. LaMar (Edna Mae) Wilde of Orem; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters: Ephraim Twitchell of Orem; Mrs. Heber (Dora) Rose of Hinckley; Hin-ckley; Idona Briggs of Ogden; Susie Sevdy of Rhode Island; Delia Twitchell Twit-chell of Provo. Services were Saturday in Provo. Burial was in the Provo City Cemetery. Icna Johnson Iona Irene Hansen Johnson, 89, died Monday, Dec. 19, 1983, a her home in Orem. She was born Sept. 17, 1894, in Provo to Mary Neilsen and Jorgen Hansen. Sept 22, 1915, she married William Grant Johnson in Price. He died Feb. 11, 1961. Johnson, Springville; and William Kent Johnson, Orem; 11 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother, Julian Hansen Han-sen of Orem. Services were Thursday in Orem. Von Reay Von Reay, 68, of Orem, died December 25, 1983 in Apache Junction, Jun-ction, Arizona. He was born August 12, 1915 in Meadow, Utah, a son of William H. and Jane Dame Reay. He .. married V irginia Robinson on April 1 1, 1940 in Fillmore, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He worked as a farmer in Meadow until he moved to Orem in 1957. Interment will be in the Meadow Cemetery. Edward H. Powley Jr. Edward Harrison Powley, Jr., 74, of Orem, died December 26, 1983 in Orem, Utah. He was born January 31, 1909 in Germantown, Pa., a son of Eduward H. and Elizabeth H. Randle Powley. He married Elizabeth Malinowski on June 14, 1941 in New York, New York. Mr. Powley attended and played lacrosse at St. John's College in Annapolis, An-napolis, Md. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He also was a very active in the National Guard and Reserve in South Orange, New Jersey where he lived until moving to Orem, Utah AVt years ago. He was employed at Western Electric for 37 years and was a member mem-ber the Telephone Pioneers, of America. He was also a member of the American Legion. After retirement in 1974, Mr. Powley was a very active in New Jersey with the Columbia High School Lacrosse Team. He continued . this interest after coming to Utah by participating with the BYU Lacrosse Team. He is survived by one son, E. Harrison Powley, his daughter-in-law, Ellen, and ' seven grandchildren, William, Barrett, Martha, Edward, Philip, Julianne and Sara, all of Provo. Alice H. Rasmussen Alice Henrichsen Rasmussen, 89, of Pleasant Grove, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 1983, at the American Fork Hospital. She was the sister of Mrs. B. M. (Ruth) Jolley of Orem. She was born Nov. 29, 1894 to Mary Elizabeth Hadfield and Alfred George Henrichsen in Provo. On Jan. 28, 1914, she married Clarence Arthur Rasmussen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ccm-tery. E.OrvilleOlsen E. Orville Olscn, 89, of Orem. died Thursday, Dec. 22, 1983, in Provo. He wire born Sept. 27, 1894, in Provo to Mary Nelson and Ole E. Olsen, Sr. On Dec. 25, 1917, he married Ina May Ericksen in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. The marriage was later solemnized solem-nized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sain-ts. His first wife died Oct. 13, 1962. He married Genevieve Bennett Ben-nett Hawkins on Aug. 27, 1963, in Elko, Nev. He was educated in Provo schools. He retired as a barber in Provo after about 60 years. Olsen served an LDS Mission to the Western States, and returned to Provo where he lived until 1971, then moving to Orem. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I, and was a former member of the American Legion. - An active member of the LDS Church, he was a high priest and served ser-ved in various organizations of the Orem 29th Ward. Survivors include his wife of Orem; and two sons and two daughters: Eldred C. and Harlan D. Olsen, both of Juneau, Alaska; and Mrs. Frank (Geraldine) Josie and Elayne Davis, both of Provo. Also, 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, J. Angus Olsen of Orem; a stepson, Roger Hawkins, of Raymond, Alberta, Canada; and two stepdaughters: step-daughters: Mrs. Nels (Heather) Sather, Brigham City; and Mrs. Jef-frrey Jef-frrey (Dana) Van Ausdal, Orem. He married Beth Crom-pton Crom-pton on June 23, 1 934 in Provo. He has worked at U.S. Steel Geneva Works for the past 30 years as a layout man in the structural mill. Prior to that, he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He is survived by his wife of Orem; and two sisters, Erma W. Hardy of Pocatello, Idaho and Doril W. Hardy of Brigham City. He finally got his parents to agree that he could have one, "if he could figure out a way to earn the money." Shaun did. Only it didn't cost him any money. Last week he was presented with the bike of his dreams by winning the local Artie Circle coloring contest in his age category. Winners were announced Thursday. The four Artie Circle stores in the area each presented 2 BMX bikes and a Smurf big wheel to winners win-ners in three age groups categories: 4 and under, 5 to 7, and 8-12. Entry forms were picked up at the stores and employees judged each one carefully according to originality and neatness. It was especially hard in the middle age group because there were nearly 100 entries in that category The bikes were donated to the company by Pepsi Cola Company.
