VA Dividends To Be Paid On Policy Date The annual dividends on participating par-ticipating VA Life Insurance Policies will be paid on the policy anniversary date this year, according ac-cording to Douglas Wadsworth, VA Regional Office Director. Policy holders will be paid dividends for each month the policy is in force during the 12 months between the 1982 and 1983 policy anniversary dates. Paid up insurance and paid up editions are eligible and will be paid under the same rules, notes Wadsworth. Wad-sworth. Policies which qualify for payment of dividends include those National Service . Life Insurance Policies with prefixes V, RS, W, and J series, and United States Government Life Insurance (prefix K). There are several different dividend options available. Most veterans choose to receive cash payments. Some use the dividend to be held as accrual earning interest, others to pay premiums in advance. Purchase of paid up additions is also possible with the exception of USGLI (K) Policies. VA Staff Includes 82,361 Veterans The Veterans Administration now has 82,361 veterans on its payroll - more than half of them from the Vietnam era. Veterans comprised 34.9 percent the total Veterans Administration work force at the end of October, said Douglas Wadsworth, director, Salt Lake City VA Regional Office. VA continues to be one of the largest employers of disabled veterans in federal government with 12,709 disabled veterans on its rolls. Last October, VA hired 1,349 veterans, 1,007 of them veterans of the Vietnam era, making a total of 43,943. The agency has a total of 2!5,879 employees. VA traditionally has given high priority to providing employment opportunities for veterans. About 66 percent of its male employees are former servicemen. Of the agency's male employees, 36.8 percent are Vietnam-era veterans, 29.5 percent are veterans of other periods of service, and 33.7 percent are non-veterans, non-veterans, Wadsworth said. Over 18 percent of VA's total work force is composed of Vietnam-era Vietnam-era veterans. The figure for the federal government as a whole is 13 percent. s Achieves At ISU Karen Andrus, daughter of Leah Pierce Johnson, and the late Grant J. Johnson, was named to the Deans Academic Achievement List at Idaho State University, according to word received recently by her mother. Karen is a graduate of Orem High School and attended several Orem elementary schools. She also attended Kicks College prior to her marriage to Hoy W. Andrus of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, in May, 1970. They are now parents of four children ages 4 to II. Last fall Karen returned to school at ISU where she is majoring in Education. In addition to her school activities, ac-tivities, Karen is involved in Church activities for the LDS Church. She has served in Primary and Relief Society presidencies and has been a teacher and Acitivites Director of the MIA. Her talents as a vocalist and pianist are shared with family, friends and Church. Senior Citizen Activities ' A variety of activities continue al I he Senior Friendship Center located at 93 North 400 East in Orem. Each Monday at 10 a.m. the Golden K is scheduled to meet. On Tuesday the Health Screening Clinic begins at 8 a.m. until 12 noon. A matinee dance will he held Wednesday from 10:3(1 until noon t featuring Papa's Parlor Pickers. All seniors are invited and welcome to attend. A square dance program by Eeni and Carl LaVar Carlson will be IM-esenled lo the seniors following .lunch thai day. Thursday is the Orem Senior Citiens's Harmonica band matinee dance beginning al 10:45 a.m. until noon. A ceramics class is held each Friday from 10 a.m. lo noon.
