Show Per Capita Income In County Shows Increase Utah County's per capita income continues to climb, as shown by figures recently released by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Utah. Compared to the state average of $6,594 annual income per person in 1978, the county is 19 percent lower with $5,331. Utah ranks 39th of the 50 states in the nation in personal income. However, the state has been growing at an annual rate of 12 percent before the recession began this year. This compares to a 10 percent growth rate in the country. Concentration of personal income continues to be held along the Wasatch Front. Salt Lake County alone has 47.6 percent of total personal income in the state. The Wasatch Front counties of Salt Lake, Utah, Davis and Weber produce 80 percent of the total personal income in Utah, from 76 percent of the state's total population. Utah County has 11.5 percent of the state's $8,621.5 million personal income with a total of $988.5 million. The per capita personal income in Utah counties in 1978 is shown by the following list, with the highest at the top: Per Capita Personal Income In Utah Counties, 1 978 Chukor Production Resumes At Game Farm Orem-Geneva Times" -July 10, 1980 Salt Lake 7,400 Grand 7,182 Weber 6,864 Carbon 6,837 Morgan 6,734 Box Elder 6,700 Average 6,594 Davis 6,580 Summit 6,382 Ttoele 6,328 ym B g 1 Uintah 6,221 Wasatch 5,245 Cache 5,795 Duchesne 5,158 Emery 5,788 Piute 5,115 Sevier 5,788 Wayne 5,021 Beaver 5,590 Washington 4,992 Millard 5,585 Rich 4,840 Garfield 5,574 Kane 4,796 Daggett 5,405 Juab 4,650 Utah 5,331 Sanpete 4,616 Irrn 5,260 San Juan 3,833 For the first time since 1968, the Division of Wildlife Resources is raising chukars on a limited basis at the Springville Game Farm. The purpose of the program is to rejuvenate chukar populations in areas of the state which once supported large . chukar populations. The small-scale program has received assistance from the Idaho Department f Fish and Game, which donated 495 three-day old chukar chicks, and from a private game farm, which donated 400 eggs. Abut 200 eggs were obtained from wild chukars trapped by the Division. Chukar production at the Springville Game Farm had been discontinued in 1968, because the Division had reached a goal of releasing chukars in all areas of the state which were thought to be suitable for chukar populations. Upland game production was discontinued entirely at the Springville Game Farm in 1975. However, the facilities were maintained. Therefore, no money for facilities was expended in the new chukar program. Chukar partridge, native of southern Europe and Asia, had originally been introduced into the state in 1936, because the Utah deserts, fairly devoid of upland game birds, offered suitable habitat for chukars. between 1951 and 1968, the Division released 185,911 chukars on 191 sites throughout the state. Dwight Bunnell,. assistant chief of Game Management, says that on some of these sites, chukar populations have disappeared, probably due to harsh winters. However, these areas are capable of supporting good chukar populations. Other areas, originally considered unsuitable for chukars, have experienced habitat changes in the past 20 years and may now be able to support good chukar populations. The new "chukar release program will be concentrated in these areas. ; w I fvw " ' V'. . ... ..... ... :- i::''':: I wv , WmmSjS tflllllli-l ! -rft Bm M ?
