According to Brenda Olsen, Recreational Therapist at the Center, the residents decided to host the fair in order to earn enough money for a new color TV for their game room. "While these people are mentally retarded," re-tarded," asid Olsen, "they demonstrate a high degree of . independence and industry. Ever since they decided to hold the fair they've been busy preparing the items for sale as well as the games and other activities. They are sincerely interested in earning the money by themselves. And the public pub-lic will be getting a bargain bar-gain on these hand made items. Our residents are quite skilled with their hands on activities such as ceramics and mac-re mac-re me." The carnival will consist con-sist of games such as a child fish pond, a cake walk, a ring toss, and a dart game. Participants will win prizes for a small donation.
