Show Orem-Geneva Times January 27, 1977 Taxpayers' Errors Delay Tax Refunds Processing officials at the IliS Service Center in Ogden repprt that many taxpayers who filed early have made an error on their tax return that could possibly pos-sibly delay their refund up to two weeks or longer. The problem is occuring, they said, '...with those taxpayers tax-payers who are filing a short Form 1040A and taking the standard stand-ard deduction." Errors are occuring because taxpayers are automatically taking tak-ing the maximum amount which is more than 1C percent of their taxable income. When this occurs, oc-curs, the Service Center must re-compute the tax and send an error notice to the taxpayer, which delays processing of the tax return. Service Center officials urge all taxpayers who intend to take the standard deduction on their income tax return to read the instructions carefully. 1 so msm i i r i : n r4, l : : .
