The machine, operated by Lynn Robinson, is cabable of processing 12,000 pieces of mail an hour. Post Office Handles Much Foreign Mail The Brigham Young University Uni-versity Post Office handles a greater percentage of foreign mail than any university or city of comparable size in the nation, says Harold S. Hintze, manager of BYU Mail Service. With a mailing population of more than 31,000 students, faculty, fac-ulty, and staff, the University Post Office in the Wilkinson Center recently expanded and updated its facilities to accomodate accomo-date the large volume of mail to and from the entire world. BYU has more than 1100 foreign for-eign students, and about 70 per cent of the 25,000 students come from outside Utah. Also, since the University Post Office also serves the Language Training Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this adds another 6000 to 8000 to its mailing volume to foreign for-eign countries each year. Mr. Hintze said the office handles about 25,000 pieces of incoming U.S. mail per week, 25,000 outgoing pieces of U.S. mail, and 25,000 items of on-campus on-campus mail between University Uni-versity offices. Moreover, BYU bulk mail of newspapers, magazines, maga-zines, pamphlets, business letters, and student information items can reach the million mark monthly. Kay Rasmussen, supervisor at the BYU Post Office, says "Anyone can sell stamps, but not every university has a post office that is equipped to offer services as complicated as those at BYU. Mr. Rasmussen said, "We always try to deliver, even if a student's name isn't on the letter,' he asserted. To illustrate, he recalled that several years ago a letter came to the office addressed "To the Winterized Used Car & SP22E3SS r 73 Chev Caprice Sedan 72 Bujck Lesabre fr14fT?
