The word "ecology" is not . interchangeable interchange-able with the word "ecosystem"-which "ecosystem"-which refers to a community of organisms together with the environment en-vironment in which they live. Thus, as the Bulletin properly points out, pollution damages an ecosystem in a body of water, but it does not damage the ecology (it cannot do so, because be-cause ecology is a branch of science). Expressing some disappointment, disappoint-ment, Coach Bill Delaney said, "We should have won the meet anyway but a few performances fell shy of what was expected of the boys. We used a lot of sophomores in the meet, and many of them gained considerable growth and experience in this meet. Score for the triangular meet was Payson 74, Orem 70 12 and Pleasant Grove 22 12. Tom Nielsen of Orem and Mark Etherington of Payson put on some great competition in the dashes, as Nielsen took the 100-yard 100-yard dash and Etherington pulling pull-ing out to win the 220. Steve Whitehead of Pleasant Grove was top individual scorer of the day as he took three first places: high and low hurdles, and the javelin. Orem competed yesterday (too late for results in this issue) in a triangular meet with Carbon and American Fork at Price. Saturday comes the real test for them as they compete in the Snow Invitational at Ephriam. Last year's Snow winner-Olympus-went on to take the state championship. Orem hopes to do the same thing, especially after posting an early season triangular triangu-lar win over two other state championship contenders-Olympus contenders-Olympus and West.
