A reception will be given in their No High School Students At UTC Summer School Because of lack of funds from co-sponsoring surrounding school districts, there will be no summer school for high school students this year at Utah Technical Tech-nical College inProvo, President Wilson W. Sorensen announced today. But UtahTechnicalCollegewill continue to offer a summer quarter quar-ter of its own as part of its regular curriculum, President Sorensen emphasized. For nearly 10 years, Utah Technical College has cooperated coopera-ted with nearby school districts in offering a summer school program for any high school student stu-dent wishing to attend, said President Pres-ident Sorensen. But with the districts sharing the costs, and with their decision that this year tjjghawjno funds for Jhe program", pro-gram", TTwUliie dropped because Utah Technical College cannot afford to carry it on alone, he said. However, Utah Technical Col--lege will continue to conduct a summer quarter, on a more limited lim-ited basis than during the regular reg-ular school year, as part of its regular program with ErschelE. Included in the summer quarter quar-ter curriculum will be courses in auto mechanics, business and office practice, drafting and design de-sign technology, electrical and automation, electronics, English as related to business and industry indus-try for technical report writing, instrument repair, practical nursing, welding, and pre-tech. The latter are courses designed to aid students in basic academics academ-ics which they will need in many trade or business courses, including in-cluding improving reading skills, improving communication skills, improving arithmetic skills, basic ba-sic mathematics and introductory introduc-tory algebra.
