Show TOP PITCHERS FOR Orem this year are, from left, junior Garth Kenney, senior Dave Tigers Will Try For Win On Provo Diamond Today BY BRAD WILLIAMS Orem and Provo resume their traditional rivalries in baseball this afternoon at 3:30 when the Tigers travel to Provo's Timp Park Stadium for the first of two games in the second half of the short season, Orem at the moment has a better win-loss record than Provo, but Coach Lani Haacke of Orem has high regard for the Provo team which seems to have lost a couple of their games on untimely errors. Provo the past few years has had a state chamipionship and generally has gone into the playoffs with three other region teams to determine the Class A championship. Provo has a good pitching staff in Woodbury, Atkinson, Balser (who also plays short stop quite regularly), and Cloward. Outstanding Out-standing athlete Craig Drury gives the batting order some good strength and holds down the first base spot. Next Tuesday, Orem hosts Pleasant Grove at Orem City Park diamond at 3:30 and hosts the American ForkCavemennext Thursday for the second game against the Northern Division neighbors. The Golden Tigers beat the Cavemen in the first round. It will be the first meeting against the VIKINGS;! heir second will close the season on April 30 at Pleasant Grove. In lust Thursday's action, the Tigers' Dave Danner (a senior) limited the Spanish Fork Dons to a pair of hits to chalk up Orem's third league win of the season against one loss. The score was 4-0. In the first inning, Orem jumped to a one-run lead when Rick Elegante walked, stole second, and scored on catcher Joe Bailey's hard-hit drive to the field. Orem scored again in the third inning when Elegante singled, stole second base again, Bart Mangum singled, and Gay len Buckley clobbered a double to score a couple. The final run came when Scott Perry walked and Kay Omer walked to force in the final run. Seniors Buckley and Bailey each had two hits to lead the Orem batsmen.
