For what it it's worth, I am a lineal descendant de-scendant of William and Mary Brewster of the Mayflower through the Truman line. My great grandmother was Ruth White. I was named for her and the great-gramdmother on father's fath-er's line who was Ruth Moon, wife of William Clayton. For Christmas, my family gets each a copy of the Mayflower geneology, nothing more, You know, it's only ten generations. In my high school days at dear old B.Y. High, I had a school mate whose name was Bradford. She said she was a descendant of the Pilgrim governor and she had a battered silver tea pot that she said had come over on the famous little ship. I have no reason rea-son to doubt. I wonder where it is now. Another thing I'm thankful for today is the Indian invasion of that island called Alcatraz. For months the VIP's down there have been wondering what in the world they could do with that enormous abandoned prison and I kept muttering mut-tering that someone was lacking; in imagination, a chronic afflic-; tion with VIP's, believe me. Then the Indians moved in. Because their arguments made such good sense, I was sure they'd be push-' ed off. Then last night I heard Airman Livingston E. If this move is encouraged and it certainly should be, I, tooj will much encouraged for a number num-ber of reasons. My student left yesterday afternoon af-ternoon for California. Her first trip there and as she is from Minnesota, it will be quite an experience. She'll come back shoutin' happy. She's a natural born shouter. 5 Later, and Thanksgiving Day 1969 is over and what a day I had! S ueh weather! Not the sort that is-or is-or used to be - traditional, but beautiful. Trip to Bountiful by magnificent sundown and trip back by Moonlight. The folks at Bountiful treat me as though I were a very rich Aunt and I'm no relation at all. . My Thanksgiving visit keeps me warm for a whole year. They are pet minded, up there. 'A very well behaved pooch who wandered around the festive board and never nev-er once begged. Then there is Butterball, the hamster, who sat up on her fat little haunches, held pie crust in her little pink hands and nibbled. A delightful creature all upholstered in the very best velvet. , All this with family singing around the piano and a "doggie bag outsized which I must willy-nilly willy-nilly bring home to keep me from straving, yet! Sharon Fourth Grrdes Visit Sugar Factory : Last week the three Fourth. Grades of the Sharon School vis-r vis-r ited the Utah-Idaho Sugar factory ;.at. West Jordan, Utah and the Kennecott Copper Mine at Brig-ham, Brig-ham, Utah. .Groups of about 12 were shown through the sugar plant where ; guides explained the process of refining sugar. The students saw the process of sugar beat washing, the process of purification and the packaging of sugar. Boys and girls had been pretaught the processes used in refining sugar but were delighted and amazed by actually seeing it take place. The children ate sack lunches above Kennecott Copper Mine and observed the mining of the ore through high powered telescopes, A tape recording related facts ' ' ''and reinforced some of the min-, min-, ing processes the boys and girls had studied.
