Show 1 ii mi II " i 1 1, Tin i nitayn Cadet Kenneth C. Nix Kenneth C. Nix Among Outstanding AFROTC Cadets NEW YORK - Cadet Kenneth C. Nix, son of retired Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. Kenneth J. Nix of 838 E; 500 South, Orem, Utah, was among outstanding Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets who attended the 20th National Arnold Air Society (AAS) Conclave just concluded in New York. The cadets represented their school squadrons of the honorary military society that was named for the late General of the Air Force Henry "Hap" Arnold. More than 1,000 cadets from 175 colleges coll-eges and universities met to discuss dis-cuss the AAS program for the coming year and to hear add-, resses by top level aerospace leaders. Cadet Nix, a member of the class of '69 at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, is working work-ing toward his B.S. degree in accounting. He is a graduate of ', Orem High School. : MICHAEL C. FENTON : SERVES IN VIETNAM I VIETNAM- Marine Corporal ' Michael C. Fenton, son of Mrs.. Lillian F. Fenton of 1024 S. 545 E., Orem, is serving with the Third Battalion, United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. The Battalion, a part of the Twenty-seventh Marine Regiment, Regi-ment, First Marine Division,con-ducts Division,con-ducts large scale search and destroy des-troy operations against the enemy. Marines of the Battalion participate in company and platoon pla-toon size sweeps in search of infiltrators. ' The unit is also engaged in a civic action program designed to assist the Vietnamese people in completing self-help projects such as the building of wells, culverts, small bridges and schools. Equipment and materials mater-ials for the projects are made available through the Marine Corps Reserve Civic Action Fund. STATE May 3, 4, and 5, Activities For Mothers at UAC A weekend of activities designed de-signed 'for mothers and daughters daugh-ters only is planned May, 3, 4 and 5, at Utah State University. Sponsored annually by the Associated As-sociated Women Students of USU, Mother's Weekend gives visiting mothers an opportunity to experience ex-perience routine college life topped top-ped with a large helping of activities ac-tivities planned expecially for them. This year's Mother's Weekend theme is "Thoroughly Modern Mom." Mothers who arrive on campus early Friday will be able to attend, at-tend, classes with their daughters. At 7 p.m. a talent show will be held featuring top campus talent. Following the talent show, firesides fire-sides will be held at all residence resi-dence halls and sorority houses. Saturday's activities begin at 10 a.m. in the USU South LDS Stake Center with a fashion show presented by ZCMI. Featured speaker will be Mrs. Afton Carter Car-ter Alder, a former USU student and 1966 holder of the Mrs. Oregon Ore-gon title.
