Show Orem-Geneva Times T Thursday, April 11, 1968 Gerald E. Ingalsbe Awarded Medal For Bravery, First Lieutenant Gerald E. In-galsbe, In-galsbe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn A. Ingalsbe of Orem, is one' of five Americans to be presented pre-sented with the Silver Star medal for bravery during defensive action ac-tion of Tan Son Nhut. Ingalsbe tinguished himself by gal lantry in connection with military operations op-erations against an opposing armed arm-ed force as Assistant Security Operations Officer at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam Viet-nam on 31 January 1968. On that date, Lieutenant Ingalsbe led two Quick Reaction Teams to fill a gap in the line pf friendly forces. Although he had, to extend his line to counter a flanking movement move-ment by the hostile force, making mak-ing the line dangerously thin, his line held position until tney moved out in a counter-attack. He continiously exposed himself to extreme hostile fire by moving up and down the holding line, encouraging en-couraging and supervising his men. His leadership and courage, in the counter-attack, against superior odds, significantly aided aid-ed the friendly force. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Lieutenant Ingalsbe has reflected reflect-ed great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. They will now undergo from two to four weeks of Individual combat training and then, after leave at home, will report to their first Marine Corps assignment. assign-ment. Sumner, 1756 S. 750 E., also reported theft of an old Western style saddle valued at $50, bridal, $20 and saddle blanket, blank-et, $4.00.
