New Organization To Improve Postal Service A new organization with the aim of improving postal service in Utah County has been formed, Provo Postmaster Robert Q. Strong announced this week. "Mail service is a vital part of the operation of almost every business or other organization in the County," the postmaster said. He added, "These organizations owe it to themselves to find out how they can get the most out of the postage they pay, and how they can get the best possible service." The new group will be the Utah County Mail Users Council. The first meeting of the new Utah County Council is scheduled for April 10, 1968, at the Riverside Country Club inProvo. The bride is the former Patricia Groneman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Groneman of Orem and parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Thomas of Provo. The couple exchanged wedding vows March 8 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and were feted at a reception that evening in the Orem 16th Ward Hall. The reception line stood before a large heart-shaped backdrop in pink and cranberry with tiny white lights. Roman columns, net and greenery completed the decor. The bride wore a full tiered gown of embroidered net over taffeta, falling in a self-train. Her veil was bridal illusion caught up in a net rosette set with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of pink daisies with cranberry cran-berry streamers. Attending . the bride were her sisters, Mrs. Don (Saundra) Jeni sen and Mrs. David ( Lynette Rostron, and a sister of the groom, Mrs. Merlin (Gail) Barney. Bar-ney. Nicole Jensen was flower girl. All were gowned in floor-length floor-length dresses of pink orlon trimmed in cranberry. They carried car-ried single long-stemmed pink roses. Terry Thomas, brother of the groom, stood as best man. Kim Groneman and Ken Thomas were ushers. Hottest Jazz Going To Appear at VMH Ramsey Lewis will appear at the Valley Music Hall in North Salt Lake, March 22nd and 23rd 8:30 p.m. 'Pianist Ramsey Lewis is not only in, he is the hottest Jazz going" reported Time magazine. "The younger generation has adopted ad-opted Lewis as the purveyor of a new and wonderous sound." The new sound of Ramsey Lewis, Lew-is, first hears on his Cadet Recording of 'The In Crowd", won virtual overnight success for the hall, academic looking Chicagoan, who has led his own trio since 1955. Appearing with Ramsey Lewis will be Cleaveland Eaton a former for-mer teacher of music in the Chicago public schools system. During his tenure as a teacher, Mr. Eaton was also very much in demand as Bassist for .recording .re-cording sessions and club dates. Cleveland has appeared nationally with the Donald Byrd-Pepper Adams Ad-ams group and on the tour circuit cir-cuit with the Julie London troupe. He has also performed with such jazz greats as Nancy Wilson, Gloria Lynn, Henry Mancini and Jack Jones. Also appearing with Ramsey will be Maurice White, a young percussionist with extensive experience ex-perience in all related fields of music. He has performed as a staff musician for one of America's Ameri-ca's most successful recording firms and in jazz clubs with top-flight jazz artists. White is a native of Memphis, Tennessee Ten-nessee and studies percussion at Chicago Conservatory of Music. Mus-ic. Date Announced , For Days '47 Queen Coronation ; The Days of '47 Queen for ; 1968 will be selected from candidates can-didates on May 18 at 2 p.m. in the 17th Ward Chapel, 142 W. 1st N., Salt Lake City. The Coronation Cor-onation will be June 1 in the Assembly As-sembly Hall on Temple Square at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited invit-ed to both events. Candidates for this unique honor must nave one ancestor who was a Utah Pioneer, is single and never previously married, is 18 to 25 years of age, and does not smoke or drink. Deadline for entering is 10 a.m., May 16, for those candidates candi-dates who wish to attend the get-acquainted get-acquainted luncheon at noon on May 18. Those who do not wish to attend the luncheon must file applications by 4 p.m. May 17. The luncheon will be held the day of the contest in the 17th Ward Chapel. Contestants will be guests of the Days of '47. Others may attend by purchasing a $2 ticket from the Pioneer Memorial Building by 10 sum., May 16.
