Mr. Jedenoff pointed out that the Pittsburg plant is able to buy where they can get steel for their operation at the best price, In order to meet competition, they could stop using mation of Interest concerning the island. However another big problem that confronts Geneva is the Im ported steel from Japan. Japan is now shipping steel Into the west coast for $20 per ton. At this price the steel companys of Am erica Just cannot compete. Japan is expected to ship about 48 million tons into this country as compared to about 12 million tons 10 years ago, so far there is not any relief in sight for the steel companies as how to combat this problem. Mr. Jedenoff said that Geneva in order to combat these problems, pro-blems, had instituted depth selling, sell-ing, thus stressing quality and service. He expressed the feeling that if Geneva could avoid curtailing cur-tailing their output that in the next few years the market for steel In this lntermountain area would improve with new industries indus-tries coming into the area. The new proposed pipe plant in the Clearfield area was used as an llustration. Mr. Jedenoff stated that tax wise there was not any advantage for a company to be located in California or Utah, as both were about equal. The cost of producing Deer Hunter Special Your Deer Cut-Wrapped With the Purchase of a GIBSON Freezer or Refrigerator FROST CLEAR adds a brand new dimension to freezer convenience FREE "" rr 1 r-- - ' $5 down $10 per mo Once you've experienced the wonder of Frost Clear in a freezer, you'll never settle for anything else. Mr. Jedenoff stated that production was higher at Geneva than it had been in the past 23 years of operation, and that he felt relations between management manage-ment and the union were better than it had been in years. In order to get an idea of how much work it takes to keep Geneva in operation it was pointed out that one steel coil after it was processed would make about one half million beer cans.
