Show Orem -Geneva Times Thursday, October 7, 1965 Banquet Set For Scouters November 4th The District Banquet for the Squaw District will be held November No-vember 4th, 7:30 p.m. at the 21st Ward Chapel, 50 South 750 West, according to Edward Hone, chairman chair-man of the event. All scouters and their partners are invited to come out and participate. Tickets are available from the Scout Masters. v A..;-r.- f ' Deanna Kitchen At a dinner attended by family and friends at the Riverside Country Club, Mr. and Mrs. Russell L. Kitchen ofOrem announced the engagement of their daughter Deanna to Gary R. Davis son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester R. Davis of Provo. Miss Kitchen Is a graduate of Orem High School where she was a member of the Sub Debs. For the past two years she has attended the Utah Trade Technical Institute In Provo and will receive her degree In Interior designing In the spring. She spent the past summer in Italy studying at the University of Rome and for seven years she has studied music under Roy Darley In Salt Lake City. Mr. Davis is a graduate of Provo High School and of the Utah Trade Technical Institute in Electronics and instrumentation. He is also active in sports. No definite date has been set for the marriage. ' Alpine District Offers Classes For Adults Adults who need help with reading, read-ing, writing, and arithmetic skills may receive this assistance by enrolling in a new program offered of-fered by Alpine School District. Under Title II B of the Economic Opportunity Act, funds have been made available to school districts to offer such programs to deserving deserv-ing adults. Registration for the course in Alpine School District will be Elizabeth Hansen Weds John Clemens Elizabeth Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Hansen of Layton, became the bride of John E." Clemens, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. George Clemens, Saturday afternoon in rites performed at the Hill Air Force Chapel I. The bridal attendants were Mrs. John W. Schoenberg, matron ma-tron of honor, Joyce Brockway and Colleen Phillips, bridesmaids, brides-maids, Lana Phillips and Larlnda Schoenbert, junior bridesmaids. Gerald Brown was best man and John W. Schoenberg, A. Michael Stowe and Mark Schoenberg served serv-ed as ushers. Special guests Included: Mrs. Florence Shlje of Alburquerque, N. M.; Mr. and Mrs. J. W.Grant, Ely, Nev.; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lawr-ence Quilicl of Carson City, Nev. Parties for the bride were given by employees of the firm where she was employed part-time while attending the University of Utah. The couple honeymooned at Zion's National Park and will make their home in Amarillo, Texas. THE DESMOND JOHNSONS MOVE TO CALIFORNIA Mr. and Mrs. Desmond L. Johnson and their three week old son Shane Lee have recently left Orem to make their home in Los Angeles. Mr. Johnson has been employed by the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as adjustment adjust-ment counselor. He will be In charge of making up the legal briefs for property damage. Mr. Johnson graduated from the Brigham Young University August 19 and left the following day for Boston for 2 weeks before be-fore leaving for Los Angeles. City Court Trial is pending for Jerry Al-den Al-den Baum, 22, 264 E. 1200 S., Orem, who appeared in Orem City Court September 30 and pled not guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. Verl Charles Iorg, 27, 367 N. 725 W charged with speeding and driving during suspension ap peared in Orem City Court and entered a plea of guilty. He was ordered by Judge Hermansen to pay a fine of $50 with a 30-day jaU sentence which was suspended suspend-ed on payment of the fine. held on Tuesday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m. In room 2 of Pleasant Grove High School. It is planned that the course will be held two nights weekly for a series of 24 weeks. Don Toland will be the teacher. Instruction will be geared to improving basic educational skills which will enable the adult to advance vocationally. There will be no cost to the students, according to Ellen W. Adams of Orem recently announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Cherie Adams to Jerry Jex, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lorin Jex also of Orem. The couple have set their wedding date for sometime in June. Miss Adams is a graduate of Orem High School where she was active in Tlgerettes, A Cappella and received the Arion Award for Music. She is a Freshman at the B.Y.U. and is working to become a Music Major. Mr. Jex also graduated from Orem High School where he participated partici-pated in all high school sports and was captain of the Track team. He is presently a Sophomore at B.Y.U. working to become a Speech Major. He is a sprinter on the B.Y.U. Track team. Mvi - ii I iiitt j riin y-ii I Mr. and Mrs. J. Horace Bean Mr. and Mrs. Horace Bean To Be Honored On 50th Wedding The family of Mr. and Mrs. J. Horace Bean will honor their parents on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house, Saturday, October 9, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Orem 20th Ward Chapel, 860 South 100 west, Orem. James Horace Bean was born July 13, 1890 In American Fork, the son of James William Bean and Pauline E. Hardy. Alta Love was born June 18, 1892 In Nephi, the daughter of Charles William Love and Sarah J. Evans. The couple were married on October 7, 1915 in the Salt Lake Temple and spent the first 12 years of their marriage In the ranching business at Alamo, Ne vada. In 1928 they moved to Provo and Mr. Bean went to work for Utah Power and Light Co., where he continued to work until his retirement in 1955. In 1930 they built a home in Pleasant View on the property where the newest BYU dormitories now stand. In 1957 they mpved to Orem where they now reside. Gardening is Mr. Bean's hobby and they are both active in church work. They are the parents of three living children: Mrs. Robert (June) Gammell and H. Hardy Bean of Orem and J. Evan Bean of Manti, Utah. They have 11 grandchildren. All friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend the open house. The couple request no girts. SQUAW PEAK CUB SCOUTS MEETING The Timpanogos Squaw Peak District will meet tonight 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Seminary. The purpose of the meeting is important and all scouters and Ward representatives should attend. at-tend. Thursday October 14, 7:30 p.m. at the Orem 11th Ward 440 East 800 South, the Cub Scout Round Table will be held. All Cub scouters are urged to be in attendance. IIIIIl!
