Show Modern Morality Play 'J.B Rated As Theatre at Its Highest Level "J. B.," the exciting modern morality play by Archibald MacLeish will be presented at the Joseph Smith Auditorium on April 19th through the 22nd, at 8:15 p.m. Presented by the Prama Department of Brigham Young University, and directed direct-ed by Harold I. Hansen, chairman chair-man of the drama department, this pulitzer prize play Is being produced for the first time by any eaucauonai or nonprofessional non-professional group since its successful run on Broadway. Charles A. Henson is technical director for this presentation, and Miss Carol Michie is costume cos-tume designer. Cast in the play are Ivan Crossland as J. B., Carol Lynn Wright as Sarah., Preston Gledhill as Mr. Zuss., and Lael Woodbury as Nickles. In a review of "J.B", Brooks Atkinson in the New York Times , has said: "Looking around at the wreckage and misery of the modern world, Mr. MacLeish has written a fresh and exalting morality that has great stature . . . one of the memorable works of the century as verse, as drama, and as spiritual injuiry . . . The glory of Mr. MacLeish's play is that, as in the Book of Job, J.B. does not curse God. When he is reunited with his wife, two humbled but valiant people accept the universe, agree to pecting no justice but unswerv ing in their devotion to God. Two Presented Duty to God Award Sunday Ronald M. Burgener, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Burgener and Evan Rowley, son of -Mr. and Mrs. Evan Rowley, received receiv-ed their "Duty To God" award Sunday evening at the Orem 20th Ward. Bishop Stanley L. Leavitt made the presentation. To qualify for the award the following requirements are required: regular attendance at quorum meetings, filling priesthood assignments, a t-tendance t-tendance at sacrament meetings, meet-ings, observing the Word of Wisdom, paying tithing, giving service to the church, Sunday school participation and YMM IA membership and activity. The application for the awards must be passed and signed by Joseph L. Wirthlin, presiding Bishop of the church. Remedial School Enrollment Begins Plans are now completed to again hold a special summer education program in the Orem area, as announced by Mrs, John Gillman. Students who have been ab sent from school or missed some of the fundamentals as they have been presented and therefore fell below class average aver-age would greatly benefit from these clasies. The Orem PTA Council is sponsoring the summer school to help these students, who with additional help will be able to show marked scholast ical improvement. Enrollment will be on a "first come" basis Classes will be offered in En glish, Reading, and Mathema tics. We did it for our parents and the whole school. I liked "Wringle Wrangle," Wran-gle," and The Sunbonnet Girl3. There were a lot of other good dances too. It was a really good program. Christ Maxfield 2nd Grade We gave our program April 13, 1961 at 10:30 in the morning morn-ing and at 2 o'clock in the afternoon for the boys and girls in the Westmare School. We gave it for our mothers and fathers the next evening. Eric George Hansen 2nd Grade Dear Newspaper: our programs theme was "Spring In The West." There were sunbonnet girls, Indians. Bronko riders, Gypsies, Sweet Bilinda Girls, Cowgirls and Cowboys. There were dances. The names of some of the dances dan-ces were "Bow Bow Belinda," "Rig-A-Jig-," and "Swing on the corner."
