Foreign courts have been the Tiger's nemesis frequently in pre-season games this year. High scorer for the Tigers in the Olympus tilt was Lee Bunnell Bun-nell with 22 digits. The Orem Tigers really got into the swing of things last week as they dropped a game at the hands of Ogden 57-49. and eked out a 49-47 win over MOTOR MAIDS A New Alaskan Traffic Law Brings Warning By Martha Johnson Dodge Safety Consultant Tackling the problem of highway high-way safety isn't a job being undertaken un-dertaken only by officials of the "old" 48 states. They're doing omothing about it in Alarka, too. According to A. P. Brandt, superintendent of Alaska State Police, the 49th state inaugurated a new Safety Responsibility Law on Sept. 1. And with it, he issued a warning to all automobile operators op-erators and owners that he will "enforce the law firmly and impartially im-partially for the greater safety and economic security of everyone, every-one, including the motorists themselves." The law is similar to one now being used in 46 other states. It ha two primary purposes pur-poses : To require every motor vehicle owner and operator v.ho is involved in-volved in an accident rc3iilt'n; in death or injury, or property damage exceeding $20.,to furnish fur-nish wltain 45 d vs, proof of his or her ability to pay for the damage dam-age or surrender iiis driver's license until he can demonstrate such ability. Also, it is dcci.c;l to greatly facilitate the state's ability to remove re-move chrorsic accident causer;-from causer;-from behind the wheel. Drifting Stop' Is Dangerous By Martha Johnson Dodge Safety Consultant Are you a stop-sign runner? Tigers are now girding up iheir loins to tackle a tough American Fork team here Friday Fri-day night and then clash with Bingham next Wednesday. Both games will be played on the Orem maples and tip up time for each is scheduled for 8 p.m., with the junior varsity team teeing off at 6:30. The Cats under the capable coaching of Coach Berdean Jarman are now starting to jell and are improving with each game. They particularly show good speed and agility in the guard and forward slots all of which boast fairly experienced players. The Tigers seem to have come up with someone to fill the shoes of last year's high scoring Kirby McMasters in the form of forward Lee Bunnell who has averaged nearly 20 points in each of the five games Orem has played. Coach Jar-man's Jar-man's most likely candidates for starting roll honors for Friday's Fri-day's game are Gary Shumway and David Thompson on the guard line, Lee Bunnell and Glen Bullock in the forward slots, and Paul Kennedy in the center post position. Dean' Louder and DaireJ Reeves are also expected io see extensive; act. on in the coming tilts. In the Odgen game, the Tigers Tig-ers found themselves on the bottom end of the score nearly i all the way, and fight as they would they couldn't overcome this edge. Finally however, they managed to whittle down what had once been a goocl sized lead to eight points and, kept fighting as Ogden won 57-49. Smith of Ogden was high point man on the floor, with 20 points and Lee Bun-i nell paced the Tigers with 19. j Tooele Game In the Tooele game the Tigers Tig-ers put on a last effort to come out on top of a real hair raising 49-47 game. After being in a 47-47 deadlock with two seconds se-conds to go in the game Glen Bullock tipped in a two pointer to cinch it for the Tigers. It was anybody's game most of the way as the two teams raced neck and neck all the way! right up until the decisive final fin-al basket. Lee Bunnell put on a real scoring show, as he ploped in 24 counters for scor-1 Ing honors. Jensen of Tooele; also put forth quite an effort as he scored 23 points for his i losing cause. ; program to feed hungry children child-ren and refugees overseas during dur-ing the holidays.
