The law, dealing with training train-ing and licensing of juvenile hunting license buyers, was explained ex-plained in meaning and con tent by the department today, as follows. Effective date of this act is April 1, 1960. This means there is no change In present requirements re-quirements covering juvenile hunting licensing until that date. Beginning, and after that date a year hence, juvenile hunting license buyers will be required to show evidence of training and qualifications prior to purchase of such license. li-cense. Specifically, a year hence, the law requires that juveniles ages 14 through 16 will be required re-quired to present a certificate showing they have successfully successful-ly passed a reauired course in gun safety, training arid ihancuing. . Same wiU be true of those persons 17 years of age through i years of age, except those of these ages may also qualify by showing evidence of having previously held a hunting li cense, that they have receiv ed such training through the NRA, ROTC, basic military training or comparable courses. The act requires the department depart-ment to train teachers who will be qualified to give this course. Anticipating this need, the department de-partment has carried on such a teacher training program for mere than a year with the result re-sult that some 1,400 trained adults throughout the state are already qualified to teach it.
