Show Legal Notice NOTICE OF INTENTION Notice of Intention is hereby given by the City Council of Orem City, Utah, of the intention inten-tion of said Orem City Council to make the following described improvements in a special improvement im-provement district to be known as Curb and Gutter Special Improvement Im-provement District Number D and to levy special taxes to pay for the same, to-wit: Construct cement curb and gutter of high back type with cement drive-way openings and appurtenant drainage facilities and to do all other things necessary neces-sary to complete the project in a proper and workable manner according to plans, profiles and specifications of file at the Orem City Engineers office in the City Municipal Building in Orem City, Utah. That the area, location and description of the improvement to be made is as follows: Cement curb and gutter of high back type including cement drive way openings and appurtenant ap-purtenant drainage facilities on the East side and West side of U.S. Highway number 91 in Orem, Utah, and on the East side and West side of Columbia Colum-bia Lane in Orem, Utah, and commencing at 900 South Street on U.S. Highway number 91 in Orem, Utah; thence South to the South boundary line of Orem City on U.S. Highway number 91 and also running from U.S. Highway number 91 from the point where Columbia Lane in Orem, Utah, makes junction with U.S. Highway number 91, and running thence South on Columbia Lane to 1800 South Street in Orem, Utah. That the abutters portion of the cost and expense of 6aid improvement will be paid by special local assessment assess-ment and special taxes will be levied to pay for the -safrne upon land whicji fronts on the above streets and back to a depth of 120 . feet; that said land is more particularly described as follows: Beginning at a point in the East right of way line of U.S. Highway Number 91 F1P. The total estimated cost of the special Improvement above described is the sum of $32,-050.00 $32,-050.00 Dollars; that said estimated esti-mated costs were arrived at in the following manner: 13,000 linear feet of curb and gutter at $2.25 per linear foot. 40 drive-way openings at $70.-00 $70.-00 each. A-4, BIDDERS STATEMENTS A bidder must furnish as a part of his proposal, a full and explicit statement of his plan or layout for performing the work including a complete description des-cription of his proposed construction cons-truction facilities and detailed program and schedule of his construction operations. He must also submit with or in advance of his proposal a comprehen sive statement of his experience and financial condition on forms and all located within the Curb . Provided by the City. That a map setting forth in detail the location of said improvements im-provements and the area of land to be affected by the local assessment as-sessment and the special taxes to be levied thereon is on file in the office of the Orem City Recorder and may be inspected by any person desiring to do so, for further information In regard to said curb and gutter special improvement district number D. AH protests and objections to the carrying out of such inv provements must be presented to Orem City in writing, sign ed by the owner of the pro. perty affected or benefitted, de. scribing the same by stating lot and block number or description descrip-tion of property by metes and bounds, together with the num. ber of front feet or linear feet affected by said Improvement, and must be filed with the re corder of Orem City at the Orem City Municipal Building, Orem, Utah, on or before 5:00 PJM., June 16, AJ., 1958. The City Council will meet at the City Municipal Building in Orem City, Utah, on the 16th dav of June, 1958, at eight ! o'clock P.M. to hear and con-I con-I sider such protests and objec-i objec-i tions as may have been made to said improvements. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This project includes the con struction of a complete and operative s e wage treatment plant. Major components are 1) Comminutor (2) Pre-area tion and grit removal tank (3) Two 75-foot diameter primary clarifiers. (4) Two 135-foot dia meter trickling filters (5) Two 75-foot diameter secondary clarifiers (6) Two 75-foot dia meter sludge digesters (7) A pump - house and administra tive building (8) A digester control building. (9) Sludge drying beds and (10) A hard surfaced access road to the plant All materials, equipment, fittings fit-tings and labor are a portion of this contract with the excep tion of some gravel backfill which will be furnished by Orem City. A complete sub-surface drain age system which will provide drainage below all structures is presently under construction and will be essentially complet ed before award of contract for construction described herein. Sewer by-pass and outfall lines are already constructed in the area. A-2. DATE OF OPENING BIDS Sealed proposals for construct ing the sewage treatment plant and appurtenances in accordance accor-dance with plans and specifications specifica-tions will be received at the Orem City Hall. Office of the City Manager, Orem, Utah, until un-til 8 p.m., on June 24. 1958. at which time they will be publicly pub-licly opened and read. A-3. BASIS OF AWARD OF CONTRACT Award will not be made to more than one bidder nor for less than the completed plant. The City reserves the right to waive any Irregularities In any bid or bids, and after opening bids to reject any and all bids, or to make the award to the lowest responsible bidder as de fined In Section B-4 of the In- mal and shall be sufficient cause for its rejection. A-5. CERTIFIED CHECK AND BONDS Each proposal must be accompanied accom-panied by a certified or cashier's check or by corporate surety bond as a guaranty that the bidder will, if an award is made to him in accordance with the terms of his proposal, prompt ly secure worKmen s compen sation insurance, execute a con tract in the required form, and furnish satisfactory bonds for the faithful performance of the contract and for the payment of claims arising thereto. Said check or . bond shall be in an amount not less than 10 per cent of the estimated contract. The Faithful Performance Bond shall be in the smallest sum which Is a multiple of $1,000 and not less than 100 per cent of the total amour t o the contract. con-tract. A-6. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS The contract documents shall consist of this Notice Inviting Bids, together with the Instructions Instruc-tions to Bidders, Form of Proposal Pro-posal with Bidding Sheet, Form of Contract, Specifications, and the Drawings listed therein, all of which documents and drawr ings are on file In the office of Orem City Corporation and are hereby referred to and made a part of this notice. In addition the Bidder's Plan of Construc tion shall become part of the said contract documents. Plans and specifications showing show-ing the character of the work may be seen at the office of Orem City Corporation or at the offices of Fuhriman, Hod-son Hod-son and Associates. Consulting Engineers, 292 West Center Street, Provo, Utah. Copies of plans and specifications may be procured from either office for $50 per set. The amount of the deposit fee for the first set and one-half of the deposit fee for each additional set of docu ments obtained will be refund ed to the bidder or bidders pro viaea tne documents are re turned in good condition within 7 calendar days after the opening open-ing of the bids. One-half the amount of the deposit will be returned to those persons who obtain plans and specifications and who do not submit a bid on the contract, providing such sets of documents are returned in good condition within 7 days after the opening of bids. No re fund will be made for sets of Bee Hive Girls Gather For Swarm Night More than 2C0 Bee Hive girls, parents, and leaders gathered at the Sharon LDS Stake House Tuesday for their Stake Swarm Night. Miss Joie McKeen, member mem-ber of the General YWMIA Board, addressed the group. The program also incuded a welcome by Stake Bee Keeper, Mrs. Nadine Thacker; the "Bee Hive Cheer Song" by the girls; flag ceremony by the Fourteen th Ward girls; awards to Gath erers by Mrs. Thacker; awards to Guardians by Mrs. Carta Whiting, Stake Guardian leader: awards to Honor Bees by Mrs. Eva Larsen, stake YWMIA president; flower ceremony by Gatherers from the Eleventh and Twelfth Wards; the hive building ceremony by Guardians of the Fifteenth Ward; and skit, "The Bees Have It," by girls of the Thirteenth, Fifteen th, Sixteenth and Provo Seven teenth Wards, directed by Mrs. Virginia Bagley, stake drama di rector. Music was under the direc tion of Mrs. Ruth Carruth, stake music director, while Biss Beth Woodward, stake organist, serv ed as accompanist. Orem Eleventh and Twelfth Ward Guardians were in charge of the invitations, while Provo Twentieth and Orem Sixteenth were responsible for the handi craft exhibits. Programs were by the Provo Seventeenth Ward, and Orem Ninteenth Ward took care of the decorations. Ushers were from the Provo Eighteenth Eighteen-th Ward. Refreshments were served. Cerebral Palsy Drive Launched Today In Orem Residents of the Orem area will be called upon beginning today to lend their support to the Utah County Chapter of the United Celebral Palsy. A community-wide campaign headed by Mrs. Leon Hanson, geared to raise funds for use in both county and national UCP organizations, or-ganizations, was launched today. which handicap so many. The campaign chairman emphasized em-phasized that cerebral palsy is caused by brain damage, and rehabiitation of uncontrollable muscles requires the services of many trained people. A Capella Choir Of Orem High Concludes Season The Orem High School A Capella Choir gave their last performance of the year Sun day evening. The choir, under the direc tion of Richard Dastrup, pre sented the service at the Orem First LDS Ward. Several talks were given along with the musi cal selections. Monday evening, a banquet was held for choir members and their partners. Joyce Johnson sang a vocal solo and a toast was given to Mr. Dastrup by Sharon Schauerhamer. MRS.
