Show UNITED NATIONS WILL NEVER BRING PEACE TO THIS WORLD SAYS APOSTLE "The United Nations nor one eingle nation will never bring peace to this world, but peace will only come when the Prince of Peace himself brings it,' declared de-clared President Joseph Fielding Field-ing Smith of the Council of Twelve Apostles before the quarterly conference of the LDS Orem Stake Sunday at the Scera Auditorium. A record crowd of 1562 per-ecns per-ecns jammed the Scera Auditorium Audi-torium and the Sharon Seminary Semin-ary Building in the morning session; ses-sion; and another record crowd of 1100 attended the afternoon session in the Scera Auditorium. The overflow crowd in the morning session necessitated loud speakers to be installed at the Sharon Seminary Building. In answer to critics who say that wars are no more frequent than in past ages, Elder Smith asserted that peace has been taken from the earth for one last time. "I have no quarrel with Farewell Testimonial TRFFIMM WFFK" For Richard Beynon "ttA MAHI5 N:b 12 those who label our wars as World Was I, II, and III, but as far a I am concerned we have had but one World War and it started at the Rebellion of So. Carolina and is still in progess. Yes, there has been a few lulls, but during those lulls(as during Nephite periods in Book of Mormon Mor-mon times) the nations were and are feverishly engaged in nrpnarine for war so that liiev can go at it again," President Smith emphaized. Music for the two sessions was provided by a Lincoln Junior Jun-ior High Chorus under the direction dir-ection of Richard Dastrup and the Orem Stake Relief Society S nging Mothers under the direction dir-ection of Mrs. Eldon Swenson. Also highlighting the music of the conference was a solo presented pre-sented by Mrs. Joseph Fielding Field-ing Smith, who sang the hym, "Today I'll Walk Where Jesus Walked." r , PUBLIC AFFAIRS FORUM OPPOSED TO SALES TAX, WITHOLDING PAYROLL TAX .EDITOR'S NOTE The pub-. l'c affairs Forum of Utah County has adopted the following follow-ing resolutions; which they publicly pub-licly announce: BE IT RESOLVED That we reaffirm our long established es-tablished and publically proclaimed pro-claimed policy on taxation in our state, which is: (1) We are for a graduated income tax because it is the most equitable that can be levied le-vied under our system of economy and conforms to the accepted principle "Ability to pay." (2) We are for a severance tax on the net profit derived from the extraction and use of our natural resources because Utah is enormously rich in metals me-tals minerals, gas, oil water power sites, etc., and the wealth derived from them is now going mostly to corporations aboard instead of remaining at home to serve the needs of our people and to build our state.
