Jack Carter, Jr. M-Men piesi-dent piesi-dent for the past year, conducted the meeting. Each ward presented present-ed their candidate in an original skit and then the groups voted. Eva Fae Nielson, of the Crest View Ward, was elected Junior Gleaner president, while Layle Harmon was elected Jr. M-Men president. Other candidates included Myrna Roundy, Hill Crest; Ann Johnson, Grand View 1st; Connie Asay and Bert Johnson, Timpan-ogos; Timpan-ogos; and Merilynne Rich of Lincoln Lin-coln Ward. The group enjoyed games and refreshments following the elec tions under the direction of Sylvia Kimball, past Jr. Gleaner president. presi-dent. . Hill Crest Ward Slates Program Members of the Hill Crest Ward will be entertained at a building fund program to be held Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. in the Timpan-ogos Timpan-ogos Ward Chapel. Noted entertainers will per form during the evening, accord ing to John L. Smith of the ward bishopric. All ward members are urged to be in attendance and a co.Jial invitation is extended to the public pub-lic to attend this extravaganza. Phone 4315W Provo. - . , W hi Grand View 2nd Ward Enjoys Annual Dance Members of the Grand View 2nd Ward enjoyed their annual Gold and Green Ball recently in the Grand View Ward recreation hall, according to Mrs. John Ni- col, YWMIA president. Theme for the semi-formnal af fair was "Make Mine Music," and beautiful decorations were fea tured in the hall. A delightful floorshow and tasty refreshments were featured during the evening of dancing. John Syme and Marie Griffith were general chairmen for the successful affair. Committee members mem-bers Included Gail Jolley, Gloria Hark, Carolyn Burns, Johnny Nicol and Elmo Syme. Mr. and Mrs. Julius F. Mr. and Mrs. Julius F. Johnson to Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary. Jr Gleaner, Jr. M-Men Officers Elected in Orem Stake Monday evening the Orem Stake Jr. Gleaners and Jr. M- Men met at the Geneva Ward Chapel to elect officers for the coming year, according to Mrs. Fern Coleman, Orem Stake YW MIA president. Candidates were presented from eight of the Orem Stake wards in clever, original skits. Valene Holdaway of Vineyard Ward was elected Jr. Gleaner president with Sue Bridget of the Timp View Ward as secretary. Don Wilberg of the Timp View Ward was elected Jr. M-Men president. Iris Coleman, outgoing Jr. Glea ner president and Allen Mangum, outgoing Jr. MrMen president, were presented with the book "Articles of Faith" by Talmadge, for the fine job they had done during the past year. Josephine Murdock, stake dance director, directed the group in dances and games. Tasty refreshments re-freshments were served during the evening. An open house' honoring Mr. and Mrs. Julius F. Johnson on their 50th Wedding Anniversary will be held Sunday, March 3, 1955 from 1 to 5 p.m. at their home in Lakeview, Rt. 1 Box 511. The occasion has been planned by their children. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are look ing forward to meeting their friends and relatives aealn hut request that no gifts be brought. Mr. Johnson was born March 24, 1877 in Denmark and came to America at the age of 16. He came directly ot Provo to join his parents who had previously immigrated im-migrated to the Salt Lake Valley seeking the expression of their joy in the Mormon religion. His wife Caroline Luneeford Johnson was April 3, 1879 in lakeview on land that her parents par-ents Angeline and JoseDh Lunee ford, homesteaded. She has lived in Lakeview most of her life. They were married ADril 4 1905, in Provo and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are both active members in the Lakeview Ward. The Golden Text is also from Jeremiah (4:14): "O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?" Slates Big Carnival Plans are now underway for a Carnival to be held in the Lincoln LDS Ward with all proceeds going go-ing to the ward building fund. This affair will be held Saturday, Satur-day, April 9th, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Ward Chapel, 1 which is nearing completion, and the adjacent grounds. Each organization of the ward will be assisting in this fund rais ling affair and a good time is promised those who attend. Refreshments will be sold. They are Harold and Howard Johnson of Lakeview; Joseph and Oren Johnson of Salt Lake, Delia Bezzart of Pleasant Grove, Glenn E. Johnson and Mel-va Mel-va Cooper of Orem and Milton G. Johson of Provo. They also have 32 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. New Clerk Sustained In Crest View 2nd Lynn Zemp was sustained as Crest View 2nd Ward Clerk at a recent meeting. Ralph Pelton, former ward clerk, was released as he and his family are moving to Smithfield, Utah. President Philo T. Edwards and his counselors, G. Milton Jameson Jame-son and Clyde Luneeford, were present at the meeting. : - Jehovah's Witnesses To Release Special Message to the World A spokesman for Jehovah's Witnesses announced plans today for delivering a special message ! to the world. Mr. L. Behrman, I local presiding minister of the ! Provo- congregation, revealed some of the details of this special campaign, which includes sponsoring spon-soring the public lectures entitled "Christendom or Christianity Which One Is "the Light of the World." All congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses throughout the world (there are approximately approximate-ly 14,000 in 159 lands) will participate. parti-cipate. Mr. Behrman will deliver this discourse locally, to which the public Is cordially invited. It will be delivered at The Kingdom Hall, 59 North 3rd West, Provo at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3rd. . It is the desire of Jehovah's Witnesses Wit-nesses to place a copy in every Lincoln High Seniors Plan Canyon Outing A one-day outing to Provo Canyon has been substituted by the seniors of Lincoln High School for the proposed three-day three-day trip to the Grand Canyon, according to Verlin Nichols, chairman of the event. Verlin reported re-ported that inadequate participation participa-tion of the seniors was the reason for the change. Included in the plans now are breakfast in the canyon, swimming swim-ming at Homestead and games and dancing at the Girls' Home hi the canyon.
