Show THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1950 OREM-GENEVA HUES EDGEMONT (Continued from last Week) The Sunday School class of Dora Davis had charge of the program Sunday. Taking part were Terry Richards, Billy Nut-tall, Nut-tall, Petrea Gillespie and Janet Jan-et Hicken. In the gospel doc- trine class the life of Orson Spencer, great grandfather of Mrs. Fred Kemper, was reviewed review-ed by Mr. and Mrs. Kemper. Boyd Davis was the speaker at the Sunday evening services. He spoke on Scouting. The flag ceremony was conducted by Eugene Davis, with Kay Dusen-berry, Dusen-berry, Larry Messick and David Meldrum bearing the colors. Herman Richards presented the following awards: Tenderfoot badges to Norman Brereton, John Hicken, Ray Johnson, Don Messick and Gerald Carter; Second Sec-ond class to Larry Messick; David Da-vid Meldrum, Kay Dusenberry and Eugene Davis; Star Scouts, Wayne Tripett and Kenneth Cluff. The boys pinned badges on their mothers. Marion Johnson John-son played a piano solo. Prayers were offered by Ralph Hicken and Robert Farrer. Wesley Carter Car-ter is Scoutmaster. Memberships of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Baum and family and Darwin Dar-win Jackman and daughter and Carl V. Cooper were read and accepted Sunday evening. Leadership meeting was held Wednesday evening with Bishop Orvil Davis in charge. A genealogical meeting will be held Dec. 20. Everyone interested inter-ested is invited to attend. The committee officers are Martin Jackson, Wesley Jarvis, Ray Hawkins and Dora Davis. The Relief Society held their Christmas party Monday evening, even-ing, with Jeanette Jackson in charge. The teachers topic was given by Hilda Conder. Elva Elliot El-liot and Elsie Jex sang a duet, accompanied by Doris Schow. Christmas d corations were demonstrated de-monstrated by Irene Turcsanski and daughter. Gifts were exchanged ex-changed and refreshments served serv-ed to 67 ladies. The Trekkers entertained their parents at a party Friday evening. Present were Mrs. Elva Elliit and Larry, Ernest Carter and David, Mrs. Jesse Nuttall and Billy. Mr. and Mrs. William Hull and Billy, Mrs. Earl Framp-ton Framp-ton and Billy, Mrs. Dilworth Pugh and Len, Mrs. Afton Pen-rod Pen-rod and Reed, Mrs. Lynn Star-ley Star-ley and John, Jerry Ferguson, Bishop Orvil B. Davis and Mrs. Wayne Gabbittas, teacher. The Study group will meet on Sunday evening at the home of Bishop and Mrs- Orvil Davis. Selvoy Boyer was the speaker for the special interest class. ROLAND OLIPHANT SEES NAVAL ACTION Roland E. Oliphant, seaman apprestice, USN, of Route 2, Orem, is serving aboard the destroyer des-troyer USS Taussig which has taken part in every amphibious landing during the Korean war. In addition to covering these landings the Taussig has acted as a destroyer screen for the aircraft carriers off shore of the Korean coast. W. C. Faulkner of the stake presidency conducted and the speakers were Ray E. Hanks and Frank B. Woffinden. Dale Larsen, ward clerk, read the names of officers to be sustained. sus-tained. Music was furnshed by the ward choir, under the direction dir-ection of Dale Johnson. The Relief Society held a Christmas party on Tuesday at the regular meeting time. Suggestions Sug-gestions for Christmas decorations decorat-ions were shown under the supervision sup-ervision of Mrs. Amanda Bigel-ow Bigel-ow and Mrs. Long. The program pro-gram included a vocal duet by Coral Beagley and Mrs. Ardean Bench, a Christmas story by Pat Smith, a piano and organ duet by Clara Anderson and Rilla Griffiths, vocal solos by Bonnie Blaycock and Dorothy Olsen, and congregational singing, led by Eva Milier. Refreshments were served to about 30 members. mem-bers. A drama evening and ward conference was held last week at MIA. Two plays were presented, present-ed, the first of which featured Raquel Bennett, Robert Blaycock, Blay-cock, Nettie Marie Cranney, Kenneth Marshall and Pat Smith. The second year Bee Hive girls put on a Christmas play featuring Helen Murdock, Janet Anderson, Pat Gilligan, Jaimee Norton and Helen Liink. Carolyn Watts gave a Christmas reading and Dorothy D. Olsen sang a solo, accompanied by Marilyn Griffiths. Doris Childs played a flute solo, accompanied by Barbara Stewart. The basis of Christmas is love loving enemies, returning good for evil, love that "suffer-eth "suffer-eth long and Is kind."
