Show OREM-GENEVA TIMES THURSDAY, MARCH 30, 1950 Orem - Geneva Times Published every Thursday i Orem, Uiah M. NEFF SMART. Editor and Publisher (Entered as second class matter November 19. 1944 at the pottoxL."e at Orem, Utah, under the act of March 3. 1997. MEMBER: Utah State Press Association One year, in Subscription Ralest advance 3 00 DOOR-TO-DOOR MAIL SER.VICE Announcement last week that the Pleasant View subdivision sub-division of Provo would receive door-to-door mail service serv-ice opens up a field which Orem residents will want to explore fully. Frequent and valiant attempts to Uet door-to-door delivery in Orem's business district, have repeatedly been turned down on the grounds that there was not adequate sidewalk and the distances involved made foot delivery impractical. The refusals have been taken in good faith and without complaint. However, if it is the custom of the U.S. Postoffice to provide door-to-door delivery for outlying subdivisions where sidewalks are available and whore distances do not make delivery uncomfortable for the mail-man, then Orem can certainly qualify. rTornintrside Heights has 52 homes, all with sidewalks side-walks and all adjacent to e.nch other. Christeele Acres has adequate walks and enough homes to make a route worthwhile, as do Beverly Place, Dniip, Mountain .View and Memmo Gardens. Perhaps we've been missing a good bet. UEIIIAIGUS DUET hby! . ' CAN YOU SPARE SOME OLD MAGAZINES? The Christian Science Monitor describes a project of the Louisville Advisory Committee for National Security which makes sense to us. That (group is recommending that Americans, as individuals, send to individuals a-broad a-broad copies of magazines and newspapers published in the United States. The plan is to help Europeans, particularly the new generation of Europeans to obtain a true picture of the United States. The group points out that language need be no serious barrier, as English is widely read throughout through-out the world. Moreover, the illustrations alone can do. much to acquaint the world with our country and its activities. Almost everyone, by local inquiry, can learn the name of some person in another part of the world who would like to see occasional copies of American publications. Returned LDS missionaries must have a notebook full of persons interested, at least mildly, in our country. It seems an easy, yet effective, way to aid in the fight against communism for the control of people's minds. Mrs- Berlyn Hair visited with relatives in Salt Lake City during the past week.
