SUNDAY SERMON IS BASED ON DIVINE PROVIDfcrtCE '.As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will pre serve it " This verse from Isaiah (31:5) provides the Golden Text for the Lesson Sermon on "God the Preserver of Man" at all authorized Christian Science churches on Sunday. December 11. Selections from the Bible and correlative passages from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy comprise the Lesson-Sermon. In Isaiah (41:17) it is written that "When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none. and their tongue failcth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake for-sake them-" Mrs. Eddy declares that, "In divine Science man is sustained by God, the divine Principle of being." She writes further that "The earth at God's command, brings forth food for'man's use. Knowing this. Jesus once said, 'Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink" presuming not on the prerogative of his creator, but recognizing God, the Father and Mother of all- as able to feed and clothe man as He does the lilies."
