New Utah Scenic Area to Receive Publicity "Colossal Canyon" is the name given by Moab people to a recently explored scenic area 30 miles west of Moab adjacent to the Colorado river. The area in question is a canyon tributary of the Colorado and the word colossal very aptly describes the place, declares Jack Breed, National Nat-ional Geographic magazine photographer, who explored and photographed the area this month. mon-th. The spectacular thing about the canyon is the fact that the canyon floor supports scores of whitecapped pinnacles that rise to dizzy heights and resemble giant tpadstools. The canyon is vast in area and its scenic grandeur grand-eur breath taking, reports the handful of people who have made their way into this fascinating fascin-ating region. , "Moab to Become Important Tourst Center." says Breed "Within the next two years. Moab is bound to experience a huge increase in tourist traffic," Jack Breed, well known photographer photo-grapher and writer told the Moab Lions club this month. Breed urged that more adequate accommodations be provided at Moab to handle the increasing tourist business. He pointed out that Moab is the focal point for the Arches National Monument, Dead Horse Point, Colossal Canyon, Boat Trips on the Colo, rado, Fishers Towers and Cast-leton Cast-leton Valley.
