OREM RELIEF SOCIETY UNION MEETING Orem Stake Relief Society Union meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p m. in Timpanogos ward, according to Mrs. Winnie Graff, stake president. Sharon stake Sunday School Union Meeting will be held next Sunday at 2 p.m. in the peasant peas-ant View ward. All officers are urged to be present. John Nicol, Arnold Burning-ham Burning-ham and Mrs. Ruby Nicol of the Sharon Stake Sunday School board visited the Pleasant View Sunday School on Nov. 9 The Peasant View DUP held their regular monthly meeting Thursday at the home of Mrs. Alta Bean. In connection with the meeting a Country Store was held. Many useful things were sold, Co-hostesses were Alta Bean, Inez Muhlestien and Ella Muhlestien. Tasty refreshments refresh-ments were served- Mrs. D. Orson MacKay enter tained Saturday evening with a birthday dinner in honor of her husband's birthday anniversary. Family members who enjoyed the occasion were Mr. and Mrs-D. Mrs-D. Orson MacKay, Mr. and Mrs-Gene Mrs-Gene Clayton and three sons of American Fork; Mr. and Mrs-Howard Mrs-Howard MacKay and son, Dale of Salt Lake City; and from Provo, Mr. and Mrs. David MacKay Mac-Kay and son, Brent, Mrs. Ellen B. MacKay and son, Gary, Mr. and Mrs- Donald MacKay and Leonard MacKay. Mrs. Henrietta Mier enter tained at a famiy dinner Friday at her home, honoring her sis ter, Mrs. Emma Clarke and her daughters, Edith and Nellie. Mrs. Clarke and her daughters recent, ly arrived here from Bath. England- Mrs. Miller and Mrs- Clarke hadn't seen each other since Hennrietta left England 46 years ago. After a visit in Provo, the Clarkes will make their home in Logan. The Pleasant View ward quartet, Victor Hansen, worth Allred, Hardy Bean and Kent Patten, accompanied by Beth Martin, furnished musical numbers num-bers at the Sacrament meeting in the Springvile 6th ward Sunday Sun-day evening. Omar Hansen, for mer member of Pleasant View ward, now a member of that ward was the speaker. His grandfather, C. V. Hansen also spoke. Tuesday evening, the 4-H club honor night was held in connection with the regular MIA meeting Sixteen women from Pleasant Pleas-ant View ward sang with the Singing Mothers chorus at the Orem stake conference. They were Celestia Taylor, Diantha Ekins, Inez Muhlestien, Madge McKell, Ivy Allred. Hannah Lietchy, Helen Muhlestien, Chloe Fmlayson, Edna Hansen, Florence Aired, Melba Cluff, Ida Cowley, Laura Perry, Mary Davis, Leora Ashton and Ruth Colvin, accompanist. OREM WOMEN'S CLUB "Literary Leaders" will be the theme of the meeting when Mrs. Rulon West and Mrs. J-Clyde J-Clyde Vaught entertain the members mem-bers of the Orem Women's club at the Scera lounge on Weuiies-day Weuiies-day afternon, Nov. 19. Irs. Woodrow Thompson of Provo will review a short novel by Pearl Buck. Mrs. Ed J. Simmons will be in charge of the music; Mrs. Merlin Finch will read the litany; Mrs- Karl Terry and Mrs. Dwayne Peterson will present the program. LIBRARY NOTES By Clyde E. Weeks, Jr. Still nroviding books of all kinds and the comnetant servi ces of Helen Mitchell, librarian, the Orem City Public Library continues to serve Orem citizens, citi-zens, both young and old. It has been a long and ted ious Job, but all books in the library, are now classified, using us-ing the Dewey-decimal system. This system has been found to be the most effective way of cataloguing books and it is used by the largest and up-to-date libraries in the country. Conscious for the need of new additions to the library, if it is to grow and prosper. Orem citizens continue to donate worthwhile books. Most recent has been the donation of 16 books by Mrs. Wila Davis- Several Sev-eral of the books donated by Mrs. Davis are from a set of classical literature, always on demand, and the rest are recent fiction. For the present time the lib rary is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m- and on Saturday from 1 p. m. to 5 p. m- HILL CREST WARD A Harvest Ball was held Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, sponsored by the Hill Crest MIA. Regular class work was conducted first, then all those present at mutual assembled in the recreation hall for a dance and social. Next Tuesday, the literary lesson at Relief Society meeting will be given by Mrs. Maud Tidd. The Social Service lesson will be given the same day by Mrs. Ellen Kartchner. The two lessons are being given on the same day because of the county demonstration on Nov. 25. This demonstration will show the ladies ways of making attractive Christmas gifts. The demonstration demonstrat-ion agent has many patterns and ideas that should be of interest to all ladies of the ward. The Hill Crest Relief Society ladies will sell candy at the show; the proceeds will be used for welfare work.
