Business man and farmer. EDUCATION Peoples Party appreciate the fine schools within our city limits nd the faculties who supervise. We pledge our our cooperation with the officials of the school district in improving im-proving the facilities for the benefit of our children- BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY We pledge our wholehearted cooperation cooper-ation to all the present business and industrial interests of the city and adjacent there-to such as the Geneva Steel. We pledge our support and cooperation to oher businesses and industries as well as new residences that have a desire to become a part of our city. PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY Orem city has a city board of health that is looking after the needs of the people and we stand for the continuation of same. We also stand for and pledge our support to the Safety Council that are now active and looking after the many problems in their department. v. Orland E. Pyne For Recorder, 2-Year Term Mr. Pyne, a lifelong resident of Orem. ia a young, wall-liked, conscientious worker who knows his job. ..Now serving his first term as recorder, Mr. Pyu if fully qualified to be elected to second term ia office. Am active church worker. Mr. Pyne Is a former Timpaa-ego Timpaa-ego ward clerk. J. W. GILLMAN FOR MAYOR He served as mayor of Orem City the last two years. Was one of the first to incorporate Orem as a town so the people could have a water system. Was the second president of town board. We think that the people know Mayor Gillman well enough thai he need no further introduction intro-duction to be elected for another two years. CITY PLANNING Orem city now has a competent zoning and planning commission with a full time building buil-ding inspector who issues all building permits, these commissions lend their services without compensation. The peoples party stand for a continuation of city planning and zoning. . WATER We stand for an adequate supply of culinary cul-inary water as fast as the needs require and as the funds are available. , We have no fears of a water crisis in Orem city with the program as outlined by the present city officials. We have had in operation oper-ation the past 15 months a well that to our knowledge has an unlimited supply. We hope in the near future to complete the second well near the Scera Theatre that will - adequately supply the south portion of the city for some time in the future. This underground water according to the State Board of Health is pure and for that reason we think this program gives our people a water supply free from contamination. con-tamination. We pledge our support to the extension of our sewer system as fast as the people call for it. We stand for the enlargement of many of the water lines in the near future. TAXATION The peoples Party stand on their past platform for the future, a sound and conservation conser-vation expenditure of the public's tax money-It money-It is impossible at this time to predict what the tax requirements will be in this city. It will depend largely upon the taxpayers themselves. LURLEEN LOVELESS For Treasurer, 2-year term The wife of the lata Vernle Loveless. Lived in Orem many years. Haa been a worker i t youth organizations both church and civic. At present serving on the MIA Canyon Horn council. VERM WILLIAMS For Councilman, 4-Year Term A member of the City Council Ihe last two years. Has lived in this locality all his life, Is ihe only representative on either ticket west of the stale highway. A dairyman and employee of Geneva Steel. A worker in church and civic affairs. PARKS AND RECREATION The Peoples Party stand for the contin-ous contin-ous improvement both the park at the city hall and the city recreational grounds in Provo Canyon, Can-yon, across the river north of Xmas City. We also pledge ou cooperation with the Scera Corporation and the Alpine School district, in the supervised recreational program. pro-gram. STREETS AND SIDEWALKS Orem City has the responsibility of caring car-ing for over 60 miles of streets and sidewalks. In a 3rd class city which we are, there is a leg-gal leg-gal limit of 5 mills for street and sidewalk maintainence and constuction which of course is wholly inadequate. If the Peoples Party is elected, we pledge ourselves to a construction program. First, build a proper base and adequate ade-quate drainage prior to hard surfacing. LIGHTING We pledge our continued efforts toward the improvement of our street lighting and the extension of our present program. We also pledge our support to the American Amer-ican Legion and all other veterans and organizations organ-izations for building a memorial building as soon as funds are available. T""Kn i E. H.
