QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON VETERANS HOUSING This is the second in a scries of articles dealing with questions ques-tions asked by Veterans on the Veterans' Emergency Housing Program. Q. Docs "Veterans' Preference" Prefer-ence" apply to housing built for rent? A. All units built for rent under the Program must be offered of-fered for rent to Veterans during construction and for 30 days after completion unless the unit was rented sooner to a veteran. Q. 1 am a Veteran and am interested in-terested in purchasing a home being built in my community. Two other Veterans want to buy the same house. Who decides which of us shall get preference? A. This is entirely a mutter for the seller to decide, since the government only requires that a seller meets its preference and ceiling price requirements. Q. I have just purchased a house constructed under the Veteran's Emergency Housing Program. How am I to know if I have paid the correct ceiling price? j. The seller of the propertj must file a sales report showing how much he sold the property for in duplicate with his local OPA Area Rent Office. That office will check the sales report re-port against the sales price set by FHA. OPA will send you a copy of that report, or if you i don't receive a copy of the sales report within 30 days call or write your nearest OPA Area i Rent Office. I've got to admit there's something some-thing to it A lot of our folks are inclined to be pretty outspoken and quick to criticize . . . even about little things, like a woman's hat, or a man's preference for a glass of beer, or the color of Cy Hartman's new barn. But when anyone's in trouble, those differences and points of criticism are forgotten . . . and folks become neighborly and helpful help-ful like they really are. From where I sit, criticism never did much harm to anybody, so long as folks don't let it guide their actions ... so long as they respect our individual preferences, prefer-ences, whether they apply to hats or beer. That's the way it is in our town, anyway, and I hope that it'a. .. the same in yours. .. . ' Copyright, 1947, United States Breumrt Foundation LEGAL NOTICES NOTICE TO CREDITORS ESTATE UF i.
