Malan, who aspires as-pires to this important post, resides re-sides in Ogden, at 2578 Tyler Avenue. He has followed his profession as a lawyer for 19 years, having been born here in 1904, the son of G. H. and Lettie Compton Malan. His father was a railroad machinist, later becoming be-coming president and manager of a general contracting firm, the Wheelwright Construction Co. Malan, Sr. is past president of the Associated General Contractors Con-tractors of America for Utah. Malan was candidate for County Attorney on the Republican Repub-lican ticket in 1932, which was the last year the Hon. Reed Smoot campaigned for re-election to the U. S. Senate, and 'Ken's' friends are well pleased that he has decided to run as a republican candidate for Justice of the Supreme Court of Utah, ' in the primaries and elections this year. Kennett H. Malan attended the public schools of Ogden, and during those early years, he won his first political campaign by election as Justice of the Student Stu-dent Court, at the Ogden high school. He received his legal education at the University ot Utah, was admitted to the Utah ! Bar in 1927, and to the Bar of I the United States Supreme 3urt in 1944. From 1925 until un-til 1927 Malan fulfilled a mission mis-sion for the L. D. S. church in England and Scotland. He is a member of Mt. Ogden M. I. A. stake board, a member of the 293rd Quorum of Seventies and a Sunday school teacher in Mt. Ogden ward. He is a member of Sigma Pi, social fraternity, and Suther land Club, which later became Phi Alpha Delta. In his campaign, cam-paign, Malan is using the quo- tation: "Man s reach should ex-I ex-I ceed his grasp, or else what is heaven for?" Kennett H.
