There are 125 miles on which the contract is to be let at once. Both gentlemen say they would not take any work on account of the low price of the work and the very high price of supplies. Mr. Deal said that he considered the part of Mexico he was in to be one of the best Melds for some kinds of manufacturing industries, in-dustries, such as tanneries, shoe and hat factories, etc. as prices for such thing wre exhorbltant and labor cheap. Cloud, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, asking for information in regard to I be whereabouts of her husband, who was , located here for a couple of months last summer. She says that the last news of him was to the effect that he was joining a prospecting party, and on the point of leaving for the hills. Mr. Cloud left this city in September for Eureka, going thence to Richfield, Beaver. Marysvale and St. George. On or about Oct. 15 he left that city for Kingman, Arizona. Since then nothing has been heard of him here. Mrs. Cloud has no information, evidently, evi-dently, of these later movements. Mr. Cloud practiced law In this city for a time but Provo and Spanish Fork booze did him up. He was well read in his profession, and bad travelled a great deal. He was also a printer and journalist. Packard went to Salt Lake yesterday as delegates from Springville Tent No. 9 of the Maccabees, to attend a meeting of Commanders and Past Commanders of that order in Utah. The object of the convention was the organization organiza-tion of an association of Commanders and Past Commanders for the State of-Utah. While Geo. Peterson of Springville was out driving Saturday evening, with his sister, Mrs. Andrew Gatherum, and her two cnildren, the horse became frightened and ran agaiust a telephone pole, on the Asylum road, throwing out the occupants and damaging the vehicle. Luckily none were seriously injured. Enquirer. Fred Payne and Miss Bertha Barnett, both of this city, launched their boat on the sea of matrimony last night at 8:15 o'clock. The ceremony cere-mony was performed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Payne by Bishop L. II. Harmer of the Second ward. At 8:30 an elegant supper was served to the relatives and friends, about fifty of whom were present. The creamery had a narrow escape from being burned to the groand by Ore last Tuesday night. A fire was set in some rubbish near the creamery by the cars, and the flames had jus', got a 6tart en th-j creamery when it was discovered by Wm. Clegg, Jr., who was returning from a dance in trie First ward meeting house. He waked Mr, Bowman, the manager of the creamery and who boards near by, ano they with the help of Albert Watson soon extinguished the flames before any great damage had been done.
