V Alice Ward S I Santa Ana P.C. moves to regulate newsstands City Council might install new racks to hold newspapers by Jay Hamburger OF THE RECORD STAFF Park City is leaning toward regulating newsstands in the city by constructing newsracks and then renting space in the racks to the many publications that are distributed in the city. The move, the city says, is meant to clean an eyesore created creat-ed as numerous publications, some free and some paid, put boxes throughout Park City, especially on Main Street. The city also argues that restrictions are necessary to ease pedestrian traffic on Main Street. The newsracks the city is considering con-sidering are significantly larger than single newspaper boxes, but would eliminate the rows of newspaper boxes that have sprouted. At a City Council meeting Thursday night. Park Record Publisher Andy Bernhard agreed that the number of newspaper boxes in the city is too high. "The proliferation of the racks has gotten out of control." Bernhard told the City Council. He added that some publications publica-tions on Main Street do not tend to their newsracks. making the situation worse. Hefferman must also complete an alcohol-awareness course by July 4, 2000. The court allowed Hefferman to complete the course in Great Britain, but he must provide proof of completion. Cleto Lopez-Vieyra, 24, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a class B. misdemeanor. The plea followed fol-lowed an incident on Dec. 25, 1999 on S.R. 224. The plea will be held in abeyance for one year. But Lopez-Vieyra Lopez-Vieyra must complete one year of probation, go one year without any alcohol-related problems, complete an alcohol-awareness course and present valid car insurance within 30 days and a valid driver license within with-in 120 days.
