They try and try, practice and improve but just can't match the potent offense and smothering defense of the defending champs. It was Uintah's turn to try harder in the second match-up on Tuesday but, like six teams before, fell woefully short. Sophomore Brittany Esty, who has turned into the Lady Miners' scoring ace, used amazing speed and coordination to outrun four Utes while dribbling the ball from just beyond the midfield line. The result was the first goal of the game, a breakaway beauty that left those in the stands shaking shak-ing their heads at Esty's blossoming blossom-ing talent. With a 1-0 lead at half-time, half-time, Park City resorted to the unconventional to push the score to 2-0. . Justine Islieb booted a corner kick into a waiting Esty who redirected redi-rected the ball to the back of the net with her chest. PCHS coach Chip Cook said her team "played great," and except for Uintah's feisty No 11, the team's sixth win was a general success. "With that exception, I really liked our passing, our control con-trol and I liked our defense." The Uintah game marked what Cook hopes is the end of an Golfing Miners claim region series by 30 strokes Third consecutive dominant PCHS golf by Dave Fields OF THE RECORD STAFF The Park City golf team swung to its third consecutive region title Wednesday with the most impressive effort of the season. sea-son. Sophomore goalie Ryan Tolpinrud has allowed one goal so far this season, living up to her coach's pre-season plan of allowing allow-ing fewer goals against. Cook said she is no different from other coaches and would like the margin of victory higher. "We don't like to have the games that close, no coach does," Cook said. Those losses and Park City's victory vic-tory over Uintah and Wasatch put the Lady Miners in sole possession pos-session of the region lead. "Now it's just a matter of keeping it," Cook said.
