' Saturday night, members of the USSA ! freestyle team kicked up their heels to 'help support The Rocky Mountain (Chapter of the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. The ath-Jetes ath-Jetes included Olympic Gold medalist Eric Bergoust, former junior world .champ Joe P.ack -and ,one of . the top freestylen women; jumper in ( the. wprld Jackie Cooper- , : The athletes were nearly upstaged, i though, by Park City's Blond Bouffants, j a.k.a. Pearl and Pearl. The pair, featured f during the event's live auction, offered a j catered dinner party. The main course? Ski kabobs, Cornish game hens skew-I skew-I ered on a ski pole. After a heated bid- ,-ding war with former Wolf Mountain owner Kenny Griswold, the prize went to Salt Lake resident Jay Youell for I $2,600. Youell said, his family had been touched by cancer and he was delighted to help support the foundation. ' Silent auction items included ski passes at Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley, a walk-on part in an ! , episode of "Touched by and Angel" and a huge basket of Beanie Babies. I ' Candlelighters provides support to families with children who have cancer. Among the guests were several j local children who have been treated for various forms of the disease including Ecker Hill Middle School ! Principal Randy Olsen's daughter Elisabeth. According to her mother, Elisa is in remission and doing well. She j added that some of the funds raised for Elisa by the community last year were shared with another family for an experimental treatment for their daughter.
