Research historian, P.C.Museum Courtesy of the Park City Museum and Utah State Historical Society That's what Parkttes used to call the location of this business, Hodgson's Jewelry Store at 4th Street and Main. The previous owner, LE. Hubbard, Installed a street clock in front of his jewelry store and the corner was christened. Carrie Vivian Hodgson and her husband Charles (behind the counter) purchased the business from Hubbard in 1908. The two ladies in front of Charles are Kate and May Byrnes. Four or five years later, Carrie divorced Charles and bought his interest in the store. Charles moved away from Park City and Carrie operated the popular jewelry store until 1964 when she became ill. She died on August 27, 1968 at the age of 92, and is buried in the City Cemetery, she was an avid horse lover and supported many religious and community causes. Not long after her death, Carolyn Bloom bought the business and operated it as Bloom's Gift shop for many years. Congratulations! ir Fundraiser scheduled to support local resident rsr f r ; Jeannine Siemon Park, City, Utah You are invited to attend a special fundrais-ing fundrais-ing benefit luncheon being held for Jeannine Siemon on Wednesday, October 15th, beginning at noon at the Yarrow Hotel. A long time Park City resident and mother of three boys attending McPolin Elementary, Jeannine had surgery in May for a reoccurrence of breast cancer. First diagnosed in 1991, Jeannine has been an active volunteer volun-teer in our schools serving as a teacher's aid and contributing time in other youth activities. During her struggles, Jeannine has also been a quiet force and source of strength to many local residents who have suffered serious and terminal ter-minal illnesses. Her sincerity, bravery brav-ery and constant support has touched many lives as she continues contin-ues to help others through their most frightening times. The friends and supporters of Jeannine have organized this special spe-cial get-together to help offset the medical expenses of her surgery and ongoing rehabilitation. The luncheon will include' both a silent and live auction as well as several raffle items. Community businesses have begun to rally their support of Jeannine with such items as five nights at the Elbow Beach Club in Bermuda, ski passes to The Canyons, and dinner for two at the Riverhorse up for bid. So mark you calendar for Wednesday, Oct. 15th, and plan to join old friends and new to join together for a good cause.
