Here is a preview of what visitors and locals can look forward to on the Park City music scene. June through September. The hugely popular First Security Concerts in the Park will continue this summer, starting June 18 with Michael Lucarelli. classical guitarist. The rest of the summer's lineup will include the Australian rock band. OzStatic, on June 25; John Flanders' smooth jazz sound on July 2; Sleepy Ray. singing the blues on July 9; Small House Strings on July 16: our own Mary Beth on July 23; also, our own Rich Wyman on July 30: bluegrass by Blue Sage on Aug. 6: chamber music by the Park City International Music Festival on Aug. 13; Fire on the Mountain, singing songs of the West, on August 20; Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band, singing "alternative acoustic." on Aug. 27; and Park City's own Motherlode on Sept. 3. All of these concerts are located at the bandstand in City Park. 6-8 p.m.. and they're FREE! Picnics and coolers are welcome, but cars are not! The Utah Symphony will again be at Deer Valley for a number of exciting concerts this summer, starting with a "Patriotic Celebration" on July 5. On July 12. "Blood. Sweat and Tears" will be appearing with the symphony at Deer Valley, and "Stars of Broadway" is the program for July 19. Last November, the very talented Toni Tenille was forced to cancel a concert with the symphony due to illness. On July 26. she will be returning to Utah for a one-night-only concert at Deer Valley. Those of you who had tickets to her canceled concert may use your stubs for admission admis-sion to Deer Valley. Trumpet player extraordinaire. Doc Severinsen. will be performing with the symphony on Aug. 2 at Deer Valley, and Academy Award-winner Bill Conti leads a "Tribute to Henry Mancini" on Aug. 9. Country music's current diva. Trisha Yearwood, will appear with the symphony on Aug. 16. Winding up the season will be a performance of everyone's every-one's favorite, the "1812 Overture," with the requisite cannons and Bruce Hangen conducting. con-ducting. Starting July 14 and running through Aug. 25. The Park City International Music Festival is again presenting a full program of chamber music performed by some of the world's most noted musicians. Venues for these concerts con-certs include the Park City Community Church, the Kimball Art Center and Deer Valley Resort. The Institute at Deer Valley, a newcomer to Park City this year, is also bringing music to our mountains. On June 27 through July 19, the Institute is presenting present-ing a String Chamber Music Festival at Deer Valley, with performances per-formances by the Muir Quartet, as well as the Florestan and Pacifica Quartets. Call 645-6918 for tickets and information. The Founders Title Folk and Bluegrass Festival is returning for its ninth year on Aug. 16 and 17. Saturday. August 16. will be filled with music-oriented workshops work-shops and clinics at the Inn at Prospector Square, with a "band scramble" Saturday night at the Grub Steak Restaurant. On Sunday. Aug. 17. at Deer Valley Resort, the full-day festival starts at 9:30 a.m. (doors open 9 a.m.). with Peter Rowan and Friends. Greg Brown. Laurel Canyon Ramblers. Kate MacKenzie. Austin Lounge Lizards. Catie Curtis. Within Tradition, Shane Jackman. and Ken Shaw. Until May 31. you can buy single tickets for $14. After that dale, single tickets are $17 in advance and $19 at the gate; family tickets are $34 in advance and $38 at the gale: and seniors over 62 and kids six-12 are always $10. August 31 at Deer Valley, will showcase some of Park City's best homegrown musical talent, such as Fat Paw, Motherlode. Sleepy Ray, Rich Wyman, MaryBcth. the Park City Singers and more.
