FOREVER HIDDEN by Sadie Barica We are forever hidden, Hidden beneath the heavy layers of our feelings. Many people call these layers a mask, The mask that is molded by our innermost thoughts. The mask hides the anger that burns in our soul. It hides the sadness that clings on to our happiness, And it hides our loneliness that lurks inside. The mask can change at any time, Going from melancholy to contented. Showing joy and showing hurt. Everyone has a mask. No one can see yours, No one but you. If we think about it, Masks make our lives easier. They hide the one thing that scares us all. The truth. Masks hide the truth among other things. They help us cope with our fears. Help us face the actuality of our lives. If you were to take off our masks, 45 39 tfRwftftTS tfWW-3 ffFCJj9 tfTCaW 23 LrtUU i ,, iri ( , anwwniw mr -mi mi w nww w r- 1 1 1 niw uwi mwi i prints Strip us of our protective shell, You would probably be afraid of the person you saw before you, For the person would not be the same. FIRE by Aaron Dufford Fire is like your spirit. Fire is like your mind, Waiting for that moment of destruction Sitting inside of you, waiting to explode Once it is going, it will never stop Burning right to your core. Fire feeds until there is no more. It feeds on your innermost desires. Fire keeps burning On that one last piece of flesh. Until there is no more. It just keeps feeding At last there is that one tiny spark. Hungry for more and more. It is ready to devour. Anything, anytime, anywhere. I can smell them-the stench of destruction, The smoke they send staining everything. I can hear them-the sizzling cut of death, Screaming for food to keep them alive. I can touch them-though the pain is unthinkable, Scorching through layers at a time. Flame-the sound of fire, living on flesh They await you!
