This 1950 photo shows miners round-loading, making the final connections that will detonate sticks of dynamite imbedded in the ceiling of the stope at the 1,270-ft. level. The blasting was preceded by many hours of drilling into the face of the ore bed to provide holes for the dynamite. The last thing these three miners would do as they ended their shift and left the area was to detonate the explosives. The next day, muckers on the early shift would load the ore into ore cars for the journey out of the mine to the mill. The Mayflower was one of the rich producers of the New Park Mining Co.
