Begin by selecting and arranging furniture that is conducive to a room's desired function. Decide how a room is to be used, then outfit it with furnishings that will enable that use. Next, find the room's focal point. If there is no element ele-ment that catches the eye and draws people into the room, create one by placing a bold or large-scaled piece of furniture in the room. Then, pull furniture furni-ture away from the walls and "float" them in central positions for tight-knit conversational groupings. At the same time, be careful to direct foot Iraflic around the groupings so that it does not interfere with the intimate setting.
