The Utah Farmland Assessment Act (also called the Greenbelt Act) allows qualifying agricultural property to be assessed and taxed based upon its productive capability instead of the prevailing market value. Productive values are established by the Utah State Tax Commission with the assistance of a five member Farmland Assessment Advisory Committee. Productive values apply statewide and are based upon income and expense factors associated with agriculture activities. These factors are expressed in terms of value per acre for specific land classifications. Private farmland can qualify for Workshop focuses on wildlife in urban areas Although the deer in this region have evolved in a severe winter climate, this winter's unusually long period of cold and deep snowfall have made their lives tough. Sustained bitter cold and heavy snow cover, especially if they persist into late winter or early spring when the deer are already weakened, can combine to create situations ripe for massive die-offs. die-offs. Wild deer have developed several behavioral and physiological adaptations to conserve their precious body reserves through most winters. In a response to reduced food availability, deer and other wild ruminants seek dense cover and confine most of their activity to mid to late afternoon. Thus, by restricting their movement to the warmer parts of the winter day, they reduce their energy demands and conserve fat reserves. Physiologically, deer are also able to make important changes. These include reducing their metabolic rates, developing a superior winter insulating coat and the ability to store tremendous amounts of energy as fat and protein, provided summer and fall forages are good. In addition, wild ruminants such as deer seem to have a digestive system capable of retaining Day care providers eligible for assistance The U.S. Department of Agriculture sponsors the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). If you tend children in your home, you may be eligible to receive cash reimbursements for meals served to the children in your care. Home day cares may need a state day care license in some cases. If you would like to participate or have further interest in this program contact the Utah State Office of Education or call 1-800-748-4809. The Child and Adult Care Food o i0M o wto mmm assessment and taxation under the Farmland Assessment Act if the land: 1. Is at least five contiguous acres in size. 2. Is actively devoted to agricultural use, and the operation is managed in such a way that there is a reasonable expectation of profit. 3. Has been devoted to agricultural use for at least two successive years immediately preceding the tax year for which application is made. 4. Meets average annual (per acre) production requirements. The assessor shall maintain all FA A records in the assessor's office. These records shall include the original year of application and clearly indicate the number of years these properties have been assessed and taxed under the FAA. All FAA applications, including nutrients within the body. For example, saliva glands, the rumen (stomach) and kidneys are able to recycle certain nutrients. This process enables these animals to obtain their necessary nutrients from relatively poor winter forages. Despite these unique adaptations, winter mortality can be high in some herds. Winter starvation is common in wild ruminants in the northern parts of the United States and into Canada. The sick and weak are usually the first to die, but even healthy animals can succumb to long winters. This is especially true if drought the previous summer reduced forage supplies they rely on to build their bodily reserves. In reality, few deer actually starve to death during the winter. They are usually victims of exposure precipitated by lack of adequate food supplies or low body reserves. This makes them susceptible to the stress of cold temperature. The solution to minimizing winter deer losses starts well before the snow actually flies. Providing suitable habitat and maintaining a balance between population and the ability of that habitat to support them should be the primary goal. Actions that impede this goal can be potentially disastrous for wintering deer populations. Program is a federal program of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), US Department of Agriculture (USDA). It is operated in accordance with the USDA policy, which does not permit discrimination because of age, race, color, national origin, sex or handicap. If you believe that your child has been treated unfairly in receiving food services for any of these reasons, write immediately to the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, D.C. 20250. those resulting from changes in ownership, legal description, additions, or deletions must be recorded. Upon withdrawal or change in use of a parcel assessed under the provisions of the FAA, the assessor shall immediately calculate the amount of the rollback roll-back tax due and the county shall bill the roll-back tax due. Land that becomes ineligible for farmland assessment solely as a result of amendments to Sections 59-2-501 through 59-2-515 is not subject to the roll-back tax if the owner of that land notifies the county assessor of the land's ineligibility for farmland assessment on or before January 1, 1994. If the county assessor audits the parcels and determines it no longer is eligible, then a roll-back tax will be billed. Approximately 120,000 of these cancers will be among African-Americans and 33,000 among other ethnic populations," said Ken Wilder, chair of the National Black leadership Initiative on Cancer. "Cancer incidence and mortality rates are generally higher for black Americans than for whites," said Wilder. "The five year survival rate for cancer in blacks diagnosed from 1983 through 1988 was about 38 percent compared with 54 percent for whites, and this is why we have created an event that targets the backbone of the African-American African-American communitythe church." He said, "We believe this is the most effective way to reach this segment of the population with prevention and early detection Cross-Lites says: "It is always too soon to quit.
