Show The Park Record D Section A Thursday, lanuary 7, 199311 Page C4 Stein, the " by CHRIS EISENBERG Record staff writer Known to some as the "Sultan of Style," Stein Eriksen, Olympic medal winner and Deer Valley Resort's Director of Skiing, is featured in a new 45 minute video designed to help intermediate and advanced skiers learn to ski like a champion. Produced by Lorette Bayle, a Deer Valley ski instructor for eight of the past nine years and the producer of a host of other documentaries, "Ski with Style and Elegance," has already appeared on 184 public television stations around the country and is now on sale in local stores. According to Sal Raio, Deer Valley Director of Ski Operations, "Ski with Style" is targeted towards "people who want to improve what they look like coming down the hill." The video demonstrates six key ingredients to help would-be Stein Eriksens achieve graceful and fluid parallel skiing. Each segment includes step-by-step instructions and trouble-shooting advice designed to help skiers identify and Local agent earns GRI designation The Graduate Realtors Institute recently awarded Carolyn Brannan of Gump & Ayers Real Estate Company the G.R.I. designation. To earn this designation, she completed 96 hours of classes in marketing, real estate law, financing, taxation, appraisals and commercial and investment real estate. Final editing of the $30,000 project was completed over the summer. Those hoping to see 45 minutes of Stein on skis, however, will be disappointed. According to Raio, Eriksen is featured only at the beginning and end of the program. "Stein is like our mascot," Raio said. "The first three to four minutes is Stein skiing. He gives the viewer the image." He then reappears in the final scenes to bring the program to a close. "Ski with Stlye and Elegance" is available in Salt Lake at Smith's, REI, Desert and Walden Books and in Park City at the Deer Valley Ski School office and both Jan's locations. The eye exams will be given in optometrists' private offices primarily in March, coinciding with the celebration of Save Your Vision Week, March 7-13. 7-13. To qualify for the free eye care, persons must: have a job or live in a household where there is one working member; have no private or government health insurance; have income below an established level based on family size; and have had no eye examination within 12 months. This program is available to children and adults of any age. In 1991 VISION USA became a nationwide program.
