Show Page B6 Thursday, June 22, 1989 Park Record Scots invade Kilts and bagpipes were the order of the day last weekend as Park City hosted the annual Scottish Festival. After parading down Main Street early Saturday Satur-day morning, below, the Scots headed to City Park, where they participated in ancient games of strengthe and skill, like this weight toss to the right. One of the most unusual events in the games is the caber toss, where the brawny men see how far they can throw a telephone pole. It's not a sport for everyone, but the poles flying fly-ing end over end sure made for some good spec-tating. Mil Egyptian announces cast This summer Park City Performances Perfor-mances will be running two shows in repetory all season to keep warm-weather warm-weather patrons interested. "Angry Housewives" will open the season June 30. The play by A.M. Collins and Chad Henry looks at four bored housewives who decide to trade their tedium for electric guitars. They get together a band, and they enter a local night club con-' test with their new, punk ways. The musical is being directed by Susan Dolan, and it will star Tabrina Love Peverelle, Karen Dodge, Diane from WEST on B5 Borrowing from blues, jazz, bluegrass, even reggae New Grass Revival sets it all to John Cowan's thumping bass and raging vocals, and the band rocks. All of New Grass's members are respected solo musicians in the accoustic community, com-munity, and I've never seen a bland show from them. One performer who should be on everyone's list to see is John McEuen. Best known for his work with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, McEuen has remained a fixture In the music world, performing solo and as a studio musician. As a guitarist and banjo player McEuen is excellent; as a fiddle player he's , been called a virtuoso. : The Michael Martin Murphey : West Fest will begin at 10 a.m. each 'morning with arts and crafts displays, and music will begin at 3 p.m. Events will end at 9:30 p.m. each day.
