For one, the day was indeed dreary players stomped feet and de-iced fingers as a atypical storm whipped across Dozier Field. For two, attitudes were dreary before the game even started, which said head coach Bob Burns, helped spur on some unjustified injuries and consequently, con-sequently, an untimely loss their first of the season. When all was said and done, Park City had the low end of the 21-9 score, as well as three injured men, Justin Rino, Corey Francis and Larry Winterer. Despite some pre-game jitters over playing the bigger Alta squad, who by the way only played juniors, the Miners were the first to score on an interception by Brody Pollard followed by a 51-yard pass into the hands of Winterer. Although they made it to Alta's 12-yard-line, they were not able to score and set up for a 23-yard kick. Up by three, Park City kicked off and was called for roughing the punter, giving Alta an automatic first down. Taking advantage of the Miners' mistake, the 'Alta offense scored on a long pass into the end zone, giving the visiting team a 7-3 lead. With the ball back in their hands, the Miners were able to gain yardage yar-dage on passes completed to f It . Francis followed with a snag of his own, but landed on a twisted ankle after getting hit hard from behind. Both were out for the remainder of the game. Unable to score once again, the Miners kicked another field goal to bring the score up 7-6. Park City's defense managed to stop Alta's next drive. Getting the ball back, the Miners marched the ball down into scoring territory, but again were stalled unable to score. The frustration mounted when Miner fullback Justin Rino went down on a tackle. The injury, a separation between the tibia and fibula at the ankle joint, will keep Kino out for the remainder of the season. The Miners managed their final scoring effort on yet another field goal, but spirits and scores were basically trounced for the rest of the game.
