SOFTBALL ACTION - Those who like to catch a little action on the diamond can now be satisfied local soft-ball soft-ball leagues began play Monday evening. Coed games are played from 6 to 10 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Men's league action is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, and from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursday. All games are at City Park. BONANZA BANZAI - A mountain bike race, from seven to 21 miles depending on expertise, will be held up at Bonanza Flats July 16 starting at 10 a.m. The race is sponsored by White Pine Touring. Last year the Banzai was the best attended mountain bike race in the state. It is held on a course which is 100 percent rideable no walking here. This year 150 riders are expected. Call White Pine at 649-8710 for more information. UTAH CYCLING FESTIVAL - The Utah Cycling Festival will run from July 13 through 17 at a variety of locations around Park City. The 13th will be a 6K hill climb from Jans to Silver Lake starting at 9 a.m. At 2 p.m. will be the 105K Homestead Road Race starting and finishing at the Homestead. The 14th will be the Old Ranch Road Individual Time Trial at 9 a.m. The 15th will be the Alpine Loop Road Race, starting at Orem at 9 a.m. The 16th will be the highlight for spectators, the Park CityReebok Criterium, run on a IK loop which begins and ends at the Resort Center. Different classes will race most of the day. The final event will be Team Time Trials on Old Ranch Road at 9 a.m. on the 17th. SHOWDOWN CLASSIC - The Jeremy Ranch Showdown Classic, a PGA Senior Tour event, will have activities from July 9 through 17. The actual tournament will begin Friday, July 15. The Showdown Classic is a 54-hole tournament, featuring 72 professionals from the Senior PGA Tour. Spectators are welcome during most of the event's activities.
