The event was part of the National Tenuis Ten-uis Katinns Prop-am (NTilPt, and Tennis Tips Serve and ball toss by MAHK JKNSKN Park City Racquet Club The serve in tennis is important to the beginner, as well as the advanced advanc-ed player The beginner uses the serve to start the point, while the ad vanced player, through accuracy, spin, and power can create an offensive offen-sive position. The ball toss can influence the success suc-cess of the serve. Here are a few ideas which might help your ball toss: 1. The ball should be held in the ends of your fingers. This will help to control the ball better and aid in releasing the ball off of all the fingers at the same time. A ball toss with minimal spin is better. 2 Keep the arm extended on the upswing. This will create a consistent consis-tent arc of the arm as it is brought up to release the ball. :i. The wrist should be natural, supinated and in a constant position throughout the movement. Attention should be paid to the wrist not flipping flipp-ing when the arm is in the upswing. 4. The downswing and upswing of the arm should be rhythmical and smooth. The ball should be easily put into the air, not jerked or flipped. 5. The ball toss should be as high as you can reach with your racquet. The ball toss can be practiced at home. Put a few of these ideas into your practice and your serve will improve. Play tennis for a lifetime! was well represented by Park City players. The idea behind the NTRP circuit is to accurately rank players, so that they play at the correct level. That makes for less sandbaggers and more even competition. Records are kept from all NTRP circuit tournaments, and if a player has it too easy in one br acket, say ;5.5 level, winning a couple tournaments in quick fashion, he will find himself in a higher bracket next time around. Candy Johnson of the Racquet Club, said about 100 players, most of them from Salt Lake, played in the weeklong tournament. Some local players held their own, and then some, against the tough out-of-town competition. In women's 3.5 doubles it was Mona Cotter and Marilyn Burrell dispensing of another local duo, Maun Alston and Mary Waterman, 7-6, 6-2. Burrell then went on to win the 3.5 singles, defeating Cotter in the final 7 5, 6-1. In men's 4.0 singles, it was Loren Kecle of Heber upsetting the number one seed, Scott Robbins of Salt Lake, 7-5, 6-3. Then in 4.0 doubles it was the local learn of Harry Reed and Bob Glaser hanging in to beat Mike Sullivan and Tom Peterson of Salt Lake 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Men's 4.5 singles was pretty much all local ,in the final. Ronnie Edwards, Ed-wards, a Racquet Club regular from Heber, whipped on Glaser 6-2, 6-4. finally, in men's 4.5 doubles it was an all Park City foursome. Mike Nielsen and Mark Jensen prevailed in a fine match 7-6, 6-2 over Steve Kemp and Rolf Engen. American Heart Association Is Your Back Problem Getting Any Better?
