Circo finished fourth overall in combined and Glenne finished first overall. American Express lands on top in corp. series In the last of the Utah Corporate Ski Racing Series, the American Express Ex-press team was victorious, capturing captur-ing the 1987 overall corporate team championship. Sponsored by Glen Ivy Resorts, the Utah Corporate Race Series has been an ongoing series vying teams sponsored by various Utah corporations corpora-tions in head-to-head competition on the ski mountain. In last Saturday's finals, American Express edged Glen Ivy Resorts by five one-hundredths of a second with a total team time of 30 points. Defending champion, Questar Corp I finished fourth and was only abe to earn 26 points. Going into the finals, held on the Clementine Race Hill at the Park City Ci-ty Ski Area, American Express and Questar Corp were tied with 87 team points. American Express was able to capture the title with a total team time of 334.39, defeating Glen Ivy Resorts, who clocked a time of 334.44. Litton Industries I followed in third with a time of 336.78. Fourth went to Questar Corp I with 341.10 and fifth to Northwest Ski Club with 352.69. Laura Verrall of Litton Industries was the top female finishers with a combined time of 87.87, followed by Susan Glasmann of Questar, 90.12; Kristin Sohrweide, Glen Ivy Resorts, 90.17; Teresa Williams, Genesis, 90.56 and Kris Furukawa, Glen Ivy, 90.81. On the men's side, Chris Tomcyzk helped lead the American Express team to victory with the gold medal. Tomcyzk skied to a combined time of 72.12, followed by teammate, Tad Rasmussen, 73.60; Sean Railton, Glen Ivy, 73.97; Joel Langraph, Hercules, Her-cules, Inc., 75.17 and Zig Baier, Sorensen Research, 76.02. After the conclusion of the fourth race of the series, the overall team points standings for the season found American Express with 117; Questar, 114; Glen Ivy Resorts and Northwest Ski Club tied with 107; National Semiconductor and Sorensen Research tied with 100; Hercules, Inc., 98; Litton Industries, 89; LongDemining and Digital Equipment Corp tied with 88; Questar Corp. II, 83; Litton Industries In-dustries II, 82; Digital Equipment Corp II, 70; Genesis Resort, 56 and Schirf Brewing Co., 21. In the overall point standings for the women's division, Susan Glasmann of Questar Corp. I wort the title with 71 points. Glasmann was followed by teammate Carolyn Coulam with 68; Kris Furukawa, Glen Ivy Resorts,54; Laurie Peterson, Peter-son, American Express, 53 and Judy Merry, Northwest Ski Club, 52. In the men's division Chris Tomcyzk Tom-cyzk won the championships with 79 points. He was followed by Sean Railton, 76; Rick Miller, Northwest Ski Club, 55; Joel Langraph, Hercules, Her-cules, Inc. 51; and Ralph Sawyer, Digital Equipment Corp. 1, 48. Saturday evening the Banquet Finale was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Olympic Hotel for competitors and guests. The evenings' even-ings' theme was Hawaii and all in attendance at-tendance were greeted appropriately appropriate-ly at the door with leis. A buffet dinner, Wasatch Ale, dancing, dan-cing, a video and photos made up the bulk of the evening's activities. A random drawing culminated the evening events in which over $7500 worth of goods were given away, compliments of the series sponsors, Cole Sport, Ltd; Reflex Sport Products Pro-ducts and Ski Dynastar. The two Grand Prizes drawn were courtesy of Glen Ivy Resorts and included round trip airfare for two with week-long week-long accommodations at the Pono Kai Resort in Kaut, Hawaii.
