Kathy Mears, who headed the group, said Police Chief Frank Bell came to the rescue and hired Sue Evans of Prospector to stop traffic on the busy highway before and after school. It was apparent the previous week that 20-mile-per-hour speed limit signs were not doing the trick. Around 15 citations for speeding were issued the first two days of school. The city will continue paying for the crossing guard, and presumably, the state will install flashing lights, guaranteed only if a crossing guard were provided. pro-vided. The city also has offered to pay for electricity to operate the lights. In addition, the state will paint stripes at the crosswalk cross-walk as soon as the resurfacing resurfac-ing of the highway takes place, scheduled to be within with-in the next two weeks. Mrs. Evans, herself the parent of four children, and other parents in the area still are concerned about the lack of sidewalks along the highway. high-way. Children will have to walk right in the highway during the winter, when roads are plowed and traffic is at its height, Mrs. Evans said. Although the 20-mile-per-hour signs have been up for two weeks, drivers still are used to driving 45 miles an hour along the route, and Mrs. Evans admitted to the hazards of her new post. "I feel like a sitting duck," she said. Arson case bound over to District Court in Coalville A Park City woman charged with arson in the July 18 fire in a Rossi Hill duplex has been bound over to District Court for arraignment. Eva Lane Townsend, 35, who was a resident in the duplex in which the fire occurred, was bound over after a preliminary hearing last Wednesday, Sept. 1, before Circuit Court Judge Larry R. Keller in Coalville. After hearing prosecution witnesses, the judge found sufficient evidence to proceed pro-ceed with the charges and set an arraignment in District Dis-trict Court for later this month. Townsend apparently was at home alone when the fire broke out in the downstairs bedroom of the duplex apartment, apart-ment, owned by High School Principal Jack Dozier. Emergency aid was called after Townsend reportedly burst into a party in the adjoining unit. Damage to the unit was estimated at some $5,000. The state fire marshal's office said a substance found in the bedroom was determined deter-mined to be a flammable liquid. The defendant, who is being represented by Public Defender Ken Brown, remains re-mains free on a $5,000 bond.
