Show The Newspaper Thursday, July IS, 1982 Page BS Potguts by Rick Brough Finally it's awards week for the Park City theatrical season, 1981-82. The upcoming up-coming festivities bring a lot of famous names to mind Governor Scott Matheson, Robert Redford, Eugene Jelesnik, Hal Linden, Lin-den, Robert Petrerson, and Donny Osmond. These names come to mind because none of these people give a damn about the awards at the Holiday Inn this weekend. So there is probably seating still available. But while the Park City Performances show is pleasant, let's talk now about the real awards The Newspaper's second annual Potgut honors! A potgut, as you know, is an animal, scurrying from one point to another, that looks up to see if it is attracting attract-ing any attention, and is promptly smashed into an unrecognizable pulp. This is not unlike the fate that befalls the average actor. This year, both Park City theater companies contributed con-tributed so much good work we were able to expand our categories. There's a winner in every slot, of course, but our honorable mentions lists will vary. Some will be short, others long. An individual thespian can only be listed once in one category. This doesn't mean we're neglecting anybody. Three actors will be given all-around awards this year. (See below.) If you didn't even make Honorable Mention this year, that doesn't mean your acting bit the air bag. All of you deserve a Purple Heart just for stepping on stage. 'I would It's a fair bet that some of those local actors and actresses ac-tresses nominated for this year's "Parkie" awards are at home deciding on just what to say in their acceptance accep-tance speeches. Nominated for best actor in a musical are Peter Holdorf for My Fair Lady, Rai French for Peter Pan, and Steve Stanczyk for Cabaret. In their years on Broadway all three shows produced winners. In '57 Rex Harrison won best actor award for his performance in My Fair Lady. In '55 Cyril Ritchard, who played Captain Cap-tain Hook, actually received the award for best featured actor in Peter Pan. And in '67 Joel Grey, the unforgettable unforget-table Master of Ceremonies for the Kit Kat Klub, won an award as best featured actor. ac-tor.
