But she needn't have worried. The most important visuals were her own water-colors water-colors on the wall behind her. Nothing out of place there. Barton is the first artist to have a show in the new Picture Framing Annex of the Family Jewels, at 591 Main Street. Twenty-seven of her originals will be displayed through the month of March. Art-lovers can also register to win a print of Barton's woodland painting, "Sentinels". The drawing will be held at the end of the month. Dawna has been painting for 10 years, but said she has devoted more time to it recently, since her family has grown up and moved away. Her paintings stem from locals around Park City, her Salt Lake home in Holladay, and other Wasatch areas. She runs a frame store, Apple Yard Art, smack dab next to the Villa Theatre. She has also entered en-tered the Park City Arts Festival eight years in a row! Her prices for originals range from $125 to $475. But if a print is more in your price range, find out what Family Jewels owner Mary Doughty can do for you. The Annex is 600 square feet at the back of Doughty 's shop. She said it is designed to show off new and budding artists, or provide more space for her posters and print items. The Jewels hours are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. (Monday through Saturday) and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Dawna Barton is exhibiting her paintings this month at the Family Jewels. Twain ... Einstein ... What the Dickens? Another one man show? On Saturday, March 13, Park City Performances will present Michael Bennett in "An Evening With Dickens", a delightful evening of readings read-ings from the famed author. Bennett, a veteran and gifted actor from Salt Lake City, will include "Nicholas Nickleby" and "Boots at the Holly Tree Inn" in the program. "Nicholas Nickleby" has received unusual publicity recently due to the unprecedented unpre-cedented 8'2 hour theatrical production which played on Broadway. It is another delightful story in the typical Dickensian genre of good triumphing over evil. The main object of the work, in Dickens' words, "was to expose the monstrous neglect ne-glect of education in England." Eng-land." Bennett, as Charles Dickens, Dick-ens, introduces us to Nicholas Nicho-las Nickleby, a very bright and amibitious young educator, educa-tor, as he is hired as an assistant to Mr. Wackford Squeers, the villainous headmaster head-master of the Dotheboys School in Yorkshire. This unnerving experience is the beginning of a tale of high adventure for Nickleby who remains, of course, true to our earliest expectations of goodness. "Boots at the Holly Tree Inn" is a lesser-known but very popular and tender story of two children, ages seven and eight, who run away to get married, and stop to rest (before the nuptials at the Holly Tree Inn. The story is entrancing-ly entrancing-ly told and the morals drawn are poignantly appropriate. Dickens' audiences considered con-sidered "Boots" his most charming story. Michael Bennett has spent the past thirteen years as editor, interpreter and reader of Dickens, in the same spirit and style that Dickens used himself beginning begin-ning in 1853. This performance perform-ance of "Nicholas Nickleby" , is a premiere for Bennett, prepared specially for this showing. The performance will be held at the Egyptian Theatre on Saturday, March 13, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 general admission, and $4 for Park City Performances members. mem-bers.
